Client Reviews for Carqueixa

Our two families, the Ruíz Perca family from Colombia and the Mealin Family from South Africa, have spent a week at Carqueixa. We have all been very happy here and the house and location are absolutely beautiful.

We had a fantastic stay here in Carqueixa. The pool was great and in use nearly the whole time! The beach was very pretty, the café on the beach was very nice and the restaurant within walking distance was very yummy. We found that not many people spoke English. Portonovo was a lovely town with a very good bakery, and their scoop ice cream was delicious. My grandmas loved the villa and were very pleased with the deck chairs everywhere. The rooms were fabulous, especially the big one upstairs! The food was delicious everywhere, especially the fish (and the ice cream!).

We have all had a really great week here in Galicia – 5 adults & 5 children aged from 15-9 & the location of beaches and pool in the garden has been a perfect mix. Fab weather all week; lots of lovely food and wine from the region which has all helped to make a family holiday altogether very special for me, in particular. We found Sanxenxo late on in the week & wished we had explored it more. Certainly worth a day checking it out, lots of nice restaurants and shopping for the girls!! Praia de Agra, just beyond Sanxenxo is a lovely little bay too. The villa is very well equipped with virtually every eventuality catered for.

This has been our first trip to Galicia although we have wanted to come for many years. We were certainly not disappointed! Both the area, with its wonderful coastline and Carqueixa have exceeded our expectations and we have been incredibly fortunate with the weather and enjoyed almost unbroken sunshine. The good weather has meant that we haven’t strayed far from the local area where we have ambled from beach to beach along the network of well-marked coastal paths. The sunsets from the headland both in front and behind the house have been magnificent and if you are lucky, you might see a pod of dolphins passing, as my husband did on 2 occasions. We also saw a cute little owl in the back garden in the evening. We highly recommend a walk along the cliff path and the large market in Portonovo is also worth a visit. Cambados is a very nice town and a nice place for a long lazy lunch and a walk around the old town. Isla de Arousa has a lovely walk out to the lighthouse where you can have a coffee and enjoy the view. If you venture to O Grove, it’s worth going to the Mirador viewpoint also to get wonderful views down over the coast. Carqueixa is a fabulous property both in terms of the quality of the accommodation and it's situation. The welcome pack was most appreciated and Vintage Travel's directions to the villa were excellent and I would particularly like to commend the use of photographs in the directions.

We have had an enjoyable stay at this lovely house and have really appreciated the location, space, pool & views. We have had excellent visits to Santiago, O Grove, Pontevedra and Combarro and would like to thank you for the recommendation to eat at Casa Zulema…the fish was magnificent. Thank you for a great holiday at Carqueixa.
