Client Reviews for Carob Tree Cottage

Thank you very much for a wonderful week. This is our first time to Crete and being able to tap into John's extensive knowledge was a huge bonus! Carob Tree cottage is a lovely property - well thought through and comfortable. I particularly favoured the outdoor shower - what luxury! Our little boy also enjoyed playing with a selection of toys he found upstairs. We found the Cretans to be polite and friendly, the island is so welcoming for children. We were very spoilt when John brought fresh bread up to the house on a few mornings. What a lovely holiday!

We had an absolutely fabulous week - couldn't have asked for anything better. Looking forward to our next holiday at the cottage.

Thank you for a thoroughly relaxing week at Carob Tree Cottage. The cottage and Crete itself are stunning. We made full use of our hire car to carry out some of John's recommendations - our son will remember swimming with the turtles at Lake Kournas for some time to come! Snorkelling in crystal clear water at the beach at Poralia was fabulous, too. The mountains are a must - stunning. John and Sarah - we can't thank you enough for everything. Sarah's welcome hamper was perfect. Thank you both for a fabulous holiday - we can't recommend this place highly enough.

In particular, we would like to thank John Eley, our representative, for his dedication way beyond the call of duty. He called us the day before our departure from the UK to let us know that he would be waiting for us at the airport. Our flight was delayed by over 2 hours- but John was waiting for us at almost midnight (with a smile on his face and three bottles of cold water!). He had called our car hire company to arrange a late collection and then let us follow him to the cottage. At the villa, we found the welcome pack, but also a pie for us to eat- again, way more than what we expected. During the visit from John the next day, he found out what sort of things we like to do, and set his recommendations accordingly. He is an absolute credit to your company, unintrusive and discreet, yet available at any time should anything have gone wrong. Our next holiday rep has a lot to live up to as John has set the bar so high! Thank you, Vintage Travel, for a fabulous week at Carob Tree Cottage, Crete.

If pretty and off the beaten track are what you seek, look no further - you have found it! Few words can describe this place - outstanding, idyllic, beautiful (even the constant chirping of the cicadas adds something). John & Sarah, thanks for the help, advice and directions - wonderful hosts. We have made a promise to return, a promise we intend to keep. A week is not long enough here, there is so much more to see. Overall an outstanding holiday.

We were looking for an idyllic, small villa, with a pool and located far from the "Madding Crowd". It had to have bucolic charm, but within striking distance of shops and tavernas with Cretan character. We found all this as Carob Tree Cottage, with the added bonus of conscientious and knowledgeable owners. So thank you John and Sarah for a memorable holiday - I'm sure we'll be back.

We so enjoyed our stay in Crete and your pretty cottage was absolutely perfect - just being able to see the stars at night and listen to the bird song in the morning lifted our spirits! Many thanks John and Sarah for all your help and good advice.

Thank you so much John and Sarah for allowing us the opportunity to stay at this wonderful property. We cannot thank you enough for the kindness you have shown during our stay. This was a great base to enable us to explore the surrounding areas, the drives up into the mountains are a must and offered spectacular views. Samaria Gorge was beautiful and hopefully next visit we will able to to visit Irini, as recommended. Chania Port was very pretty, lovely food. The west coast drive from Elafonisi was so dramatic, we will remember the ever changing views, beautiful sunset and hairpin bends for some time! We look forward to seeing you again. We will miss Carob Tree Cottage. Many thanks.

This villa has the feel of a cottage with its lovely wood beams and wood burning stove. During our stay the weather was variable so we actually used the stove which was so relaxing. The pool and garden are very private and well maintained. The villa is set up on a hill which offer fantastic views of the White Mountains and surrounding countryside. It's location is close to the nearby resorts but a car is essential if you want to explore. The hammocks in the garden are a lovely feature and the bbq a definite benefit. Everything you could need is here and Sarah, the owner has thought of everything. Supermarkets are not too far away ( short drive) and the nearby resort of Platanias offer numerous tavernas and shops. Sarah was here to greet us on arrival and has shown every kindness during our stay, from making freshly squeezed lemon juice to leaving freshly baked bread, we just cannot fault the hospitality or this beautiful cottage. We will be sad to leave and have already considered booking again. If you have doubts in booking because you have no reviews to go on, please don't. You will not be disappointed. We would recommend this villa for couples and/or small families.
