Client Reviews for Casa da Fontainha

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Casa Da Fontainha. A totally different location for us and exactly as 'it said on the tin' but perhaps a little too quiet and remote for us! We loved the rustic country style property which was very well equipped and comfortable, the wood burning stove a welcome bonus on a couple of chilly nights. The peaceful location and tranquillity of the outside areas was a very pleasant change with lush greenery and more butterflies and bees than I have seen since childhood - simply magic! Tony Baker was a charming host/owner, very helpful and hospitable.

We were extremely impressed with Casa da Fontainha and Tony, the owner was so welcoming and eased us in with his fantastic knowledge of the area. We went on a couple of walks with him and had a lovely lunch. The house and gardens and pool were all better than we thought it would be when we booked and Tony was always available if we needed help, but not intrusive at all. Money permitting, we would definitely come to his place again and will absolutely recommend Casa da Fountainha to everyone. This holiday was absolutely heaven for us and we couldn't have found a more suitable place to what we were after! Keep up the good work Tony!!!! Thanks!

Our first visit to Northern Portugal and we loved it. The pool and the views were even more spectacular than we had hoped for.

Sometimes, something truly magical happens on a holiday, although this is an uncommon occurrence. A trek into the woods behind Casa da Fontainha, down through the eucalyptus groves, up through a very English woodland and a truly wonderful time spent swimming in the secret pool, with only the dragonflies for company. Time stood still. Thank you

Villa was everything we hoped it would be and more. Pictures on the website do not do it justice.

We enjoyed three wonderful weeks in Casa da Fontainha. Thank you for the walks, the drinks and a lot of inside info and for your kindness. We look forward to our next stay.

Definitely the place to go to just chill out and enjoy the country charms of the less known tourist areas of Portugal.

Absolutely first class service from Vintage Travel when I was originally booking the holiday. Everyone I spoke to was so helpful and pointed me in the right direction to ensure villa, flights, car hire and insurance were all in place. The two people that I spoke with by telephone when booking the holiday were very professional in their telephone manner but also answered all my questions in a relaxed and friendly manner. The villa was absolutely superb in terms of its location and layout. The pool in particular was fantastic in terms of its cleanliness, position, security and size. Just brilliant. Could not have wished for a better holiday. The pictures on the website possibly do not do justice to the villa and its lovely gardens!

We were very happy with Vintage Travel. The cottage was charming and Tony, the owner was very friendly and full of knowledge. He even invited us to his home to watch the football and then took us to a local bar which was over and above what was expected and made for a very enjoyable evening. The weather was not kind to us but we did enjoy one day around the lovely, clean pool with fabulous views of the hills and the sea in the distance. Viana do Castelo was a lovely town to visit and the climb to the very top of the basilica on Monte de Santa Luzia is well worth the effort. The panoramic view is wonderful. Ponte de Lima is an attractive town too, but our enduring memory will be of the "musical" lamposts out of which was heard the music of 'Old Blue Eyes' himself - a slightly bizarre experience to say the least. The Portuguese people we met during our holiday were very friendly and helped us with our language skills - we did try and it was appreciated. We also ate and drank some lovely local delicasies, including chicken gizzards and a mix of vinho verde, beer, cinnamon and other spices which is served in terracotta mugs.( Sounds like it shouldn't work - but it does, honest:)
