Client Reviews for Casa do Lagar

Lovely house, pool and gardens - weather has been fabulous. Very much enjoyed trips to Guimaraes, Braga and Ponte de Lima. Tried to visit Barcelos on market day (Thursday) but arrived at 10am and there was no parking so we left! Also interior of Ponte D'Ave church well worht a visit. We liked Restaurante Luanda in Povoa and Hool Restaurant in Guimaraes - quality not quantity.

Casa do Lagar lived up to all our hopes and more! We arrived in scorching temperatures (40 degrees) and went straight in the pool. Life then slowed down to such a slothful pace that we truly unwound. Ponte D'Ave was explored on foot, and we had a couple of days 'out' to Guimaraes and Geres - both beautiful. The rest of our time was spent absorbing the tranquility and peace of this fabulous home. Many thanks indeed.

Of course our only regret is that we are not staying longer! We've had a fantastic stay at your beautiful house.

Most relaxing week ever - we barely left the premises! We can recommend the pool at 9am, a doze between breakfast and lunch, some more languid laps of the pool in the afternoon and Sagre beer to accompany Celestes Pizza from the takeaway on left as you enter Povoa.

A week of bliss set in an oasis of tranquility. Thank you.

We arrived after spending 3 wonderful days in Porto, and were warmly greeted by Joao and Teresa. Their home is stunning, and has been lovingly renovated. Sadly the weather has been unseasonably bad - cold, rainy with a few intermittant sunny spells, so we were unable to use the lovely pool. Visited Guimaraes, pretty even in the rain, and Braga (to buy warm clothes!). We are very keen cooks and can reccomend the butchers at Intermarche who prepared some great pork chops and a boned lamb leg for us amazing! Loved the home, but a bit sad we didn't get the weather to truly appreciate it.

We have very much enjoyed our week at Casa do Lagar, a well equipped, comfortable house, and we were able to make good use of the pool. It has been a good centre for exploring the area, we had a lovely day in the Peneda - Geres National Park, stunning scenery and pretty villages; and another wonderful day in the Douro Valley - calling in at the Mateus Palace on the way, thoroughly reccommend lunch at Pinhao and the railway station to see the tiles. More locally Bom Jesus do Monte is spectacular, Citania de Briteros fascinating if you are into archaeology, Guimares a very attractive town - the church of Sao Francisco beautiful. So we've had a wonderful week and are sorry to be leaving!

A lovely peaceful spot, and plenty to do in the surrounding area. We spent a lovely very hot week here, and loved cooling off in the pool.

Wow, we have been lucky enough to find a small piece of heaven on earth. We have very busy lives and came here to relax and we have certainly done that. The house is so comfortable and the feeling of peace when you are settled in is wonderful. The grounds are stunning and a testimony to the love and hard work put in from João and Teresa. Thank you so much for the allowing us to experience your home, it has been truly wonderful.

We were made very welcome by Teresa and João on our arrival. We thoroughly enjoyed our week at Casa do Lagar with its interesting furniture and its beautiful garden. The agapanthus were in full blood and the canopy of trees provided a sense of isolation and relaxation on the very hot days when we used the pool to cool down. Casa do Lagar was a lovely place to return to after our visits to Guimerães, Bom Jesus and Ponte de Lima (delightful). Obrigado!
