Client Reviews for La Solana

A beautiful villa in a beautiful, peaceful location. Enjoyed local seafood and days out to Santiago, Vigo and Portugal. The pool was a perfect setting for lots of fun and games. Wifi assisted some teenage downtime, but cards and chess entertained us in the lovely evenings. Beautiful part of Spain.

We have had a very enjoyable week at La Solana, in the Galicia region. Whilst much of our time was spent in & by the pool, as well as enjoying the slopey putting green and football, we did also explore the area a little. On an overcast day the park of Monte Aloia was perfect for a long walk. A great holiday with lots of happy memories.

Even though it was dark as we drove up the road from Gondomar, we knew we had struck lucky! Finally turning into the drive at La Solana confirmed that we had arrived in paradise! We have explored quite a lot and everywhere we went was beautiful. The National Park at Monte Aloia is spectacular as are the ruins at Santa Trega. The coastal road from Baiona to A Guarda is a joy to drive. Baiona, close by and easy to reach in about 15 minutes is delightful. The beaches from Baiona up past Nigran are fantastic. La Solana is superb. Lovely pool, very well equipped, beautiful, quiet location - we loved it! Fabulous two weeks.

Superb villa with wonderful secluded gardens and pool, set in beautiful natural surroundings. Warm and friendly welcome from the owners on arrival and the local community was extremely friendly and hospitable. Beaches are amazing and only a short drive away. We highly recommend this villa.

The peaceful villa that is Solana is fantastic- spent most time sitting poolside as weather was great. On the one rainy day we visited A Guarda and the Castro de Santa Trega. This is well worth a visit. Stupendous views from ancient Celtic settlement. Thanks to all especially to those who control the weather.

Dear Marta, Manuel and Pablo, Thank you so much for a wonderful week in your beautiful villa. We had everything we needed for a great holiday. Emmett slept especially well in his comfortable cot! Thank you again - hopefully we will see you again next year! Very best wishes.

We all loved the villa, had some great BBQ’s, very peaceful. We spent a lot of time on the different beaches. We started at Patos and Afife (in Portugal). Nerga and Isla Cies are worth a trip to, if you can. We enjoyed eating out in the beachside restaurant in Paxon and Baiona. We did a walk in the local Natural Parque Monte Aloia – worth a visit for the view. We had a great 2nd visit to Galicia but still have many more beaches to visit! Thank you Manuel, Martha & Jaime

This has been a great family holiday! La Solana is a perfect base; well laid-out and cool in the heat, also very clean and comfortable. Lovely gardens in the beautiful scenery – we all enjoyed the pool, crazy golf and out our boy loved the football! Marisa cleaned the house beautifully and half-way through our stay. Gloria made the gardens look beautiful too! Thank you! The children loved Playa America and Baiona has great views from the Parador and la Pinta. Carrefour in Baiona was very good. Vigo was an interesting shopping place on a rare rainy day. A Ramallosa is beautiful (especially at sunset) – the Quinta de Couselo wine is fantastic! A perfect place to have a family holiday with so much to do – 2 weeks is not enough. Definitely needs a return visit! Thank you to Manuel, Marta & Jaime!

We have had a brilliant stay at La Solana. The villa is beautiful and so peaceful. Manuel has been very helpful, provided everything we needed including getting the internet connection fixed which was not working when we arrived. Every little detail has been thought of which you don’t often find with holiday villas. Baiona is lovely and we would recommend restaurant El Mosquito on the front and Mesón Fonte de Zeta one street behind. We also loved Mesón Beiramar in Panxon for fantastic fresh seafood. The coast road to A Guarda is spectacular; we particularly enjoyed the trip to Monte de Santa Tecla and the Iron Age village. Santiago de Compostela is a must do, we went to a Sunday and parking in the street near the park was free. Tui makes a nice trip out, not far and some lovely old buildings and stunning Cathedral with views over the Miño River. Go karting on the road along the beach in Sanxenxo close to Lanzada beach, nice beaches too. O Grove has great seafood restaurants, Navajos and Paella and plenty of parking at the port, hurrah! 2 great white wines – Altos de Torona and Santiago Ruiz – both O Rosal whites. Asador Abetos in Nigrán (along road to Vigo) has fantastic vino and meat (for a charge!), good service and although a bit more expensive, worth it!

This is a lovely quiet area of Spain and I would recommend the area and the villa to anybody. The villa is lovely – it has everything you could need and more! The weather has been just right – although cloudy some days, beautiful sun the rest of the time (not oppressively hot). Visit Santiago de Compostela on Sunday – this worked well as there was no traffic worth mentioning on the roads. Cies Islands trip was a good day out – it’s worth doing the recommended walks. Drive to A Guarda (on the coast south of Baiona) was good – pretty harbour area, probably good for lunches. Visit the Parador in Baiona – coffee on the terrace (entry fee refunded on purchase) – lovely view. Enjoy your stay!
