Client Reviews for Casa do Bosque

Really good property with an unusual architectural twist and very helpful hosts. Lovely 12m pool large enough for proper swimming. Lots to do in the area and also worth taking your bike for challenging road and MTB routes.

We have had a superb week here in this lovely house. We have enjoyed eating on the decking amongst the tree tops listening to the birds and watching the bats fly out at dusk. The pool has been marvellous - we cannot believe it was just for the two of us! We have travelled around the area and visited lots of interesting places. Thanks to our hosts Maria & Manuel for making us feel very welcome.

Casa de Bosque was easily the best holiday accommodation that I have stayed in. Vintage scores high on seeking out unusual properties in off the beaten track locations. We wished we'd booked a fortnight, not a week, there is so much to do and see here. This villa with it's beautiful garden and pool is such a lovely place. Very thoughtfully designed to make a peaceful and restful stay. Maria and Manuel have been wonderful and helpful hosts - very warm and friendly. We loved the lagoons near Ponte de Lima, the beach at Afife which was deserted with a lovely stretch of sand. We explored Barcelos on Thursday - when the market is held - very fascinating with a interesting pottery museum. We also enjoyed visiting Viana do Castelo.

What a stunning property. The house is beautifully designed, very comfortable and relaxed. The pool and ground are very attractive. We have been incredibly lucky with the weather, only one cool day. Have loved the local market and food. Favourite places: Ponte de Lima, Guimarães and Valença, oh…and the pool! Most fun; we hired bikes & cycled along the eco track by the river. Thank you Maria and Manuel for your welcome and help.

We have had an excellent week in Casa do Bosque. We really lucked out with the weather and cannot recall a better place to relax and re-charge our batteries. Our second time to this lovely region of Portugal and have enjoyed our time here greatly. Lots of rest, lots of reading and relaxing by the wonderful pool, surrounded by lovely gardens – an exquisite treat! Many thanks to Maria and Manuel for a truly wonderful time.

We have had a lovely week in Casa do Bosque. Lucky enough to have had a few days of glorious sunshine – the pool is wonderful, set in gorgeous gardens. There has been plenty to do when the sun decided to depart. Would recommend a day out to Guimarães (the ‘birth place’ of Portugal) and the cable car to Penha. Porto is obviously a must see! Also worth visiting was Bom Jesus in Braga and the bastions of Valença – made for an excellent walk. Need to get home for a rest ;) Thank you to Maria & Manuel for making us so welcome. A wonderful holiday!

What a fantastic fortnight – our first time in Northern Portugal and we would definitely return. The villa is superb, especially the pool, and we’ve enjoyed numerous visits out and about to surrounding towns and beaches. Afife beach was our favourite – the kids loved the rock pools. Ponte de Lima is beautiful and we also loved strolling around Guimarães. The contemporary art museum in Porto was also fab – set in stunning gardens. All in all a great time – we’d love to come back.

We've had a wonderful time. Casa do Bosque is a beautiful base to relax and is so well-placed for visiting the region. We can only endorse previous comments and say that we would love to come back. Thank you very much Maria and Manuel for your hospitality.

To reiterate previous comments – we have enjoyed everything about Casa do Bosque. Maria & Manuel have been helpful, charming & unobtrusive. We found Ponte de Lima a lovely litte town; the gardens are delightful & cool. The lagoons (Lagoas de Bertiandos) are also worth a visit – there are signed walks which are mostly amongst the trees with board-walks & bird watching, all in the protected area. The walk along the River Lima from town on the north side is good and relatively shady – about 4kms to Bertiandos (the lagoons are some distance from the river bank). We have driven off exploring but have also been very happy to laze – take coffee in Ponte de Lima on the river front, Taberna Cadeia Velha (just to the right of the tourist office) was our particular favourite, shop at Intermarche & then return to the tranquillity of Casa do Bosque for the rest of the day, perfect!

We have had a great time in Portugal. The house and pool have been great. The weather has been very variable. Great rain storms followed by really hot weather and other things in between. We have enjoyed our (huge) meals out - particularly the Taberna do Valentim in Viana do Castelo and Vai à Fava in Ponte da Barca. We have visited Porto for a day and have also done a day cruise up the river and enjoyed both very much. Ponte de Lima is a lovely town and we visited the gardens there a couple of times – first time too hot. Afife beach is absolutely beautiful and empty when we visited! Thanks to Maria for her wonderful hospitality.
