Client Reviews for Casa de Gondarem

Had a most enjoyable stay at Casa Gondarem. Keen to return, possibly next year.

The house was one of the best equipped we have stayed in. Have stayed in the Minho area before (also through Vintage Travel), so knew what to expect. Vintage Travel has never let us down (we have rented villas VT 6 times now). Would be our first place to look.

Great week spent at Casa de Gondarem. Lovely villa with all we needed in a wonderful part of Portugal we had not visited before- definitely a place to return to.

Lovely week back in a part of the world that we have fallen in love with. Places not to miss: Ponte de Lima – cycling from other side of the river at the nautical club, Museu do Brinquedo (Toy Museum), walking around town. Caminha – beautiful old town and don’t miss the Medieval Fair if you are lucky enough to be here then. Restaurants in Caminha: Muralha de Caminha – excellent fish, silly prices! O Portão great for tapas but service a bit slow. Viana do Castelo – Citadel and views spectacular, town is pretty.

Very pleasant villa – lovely weather – lots to do – good restaurants abound – Casa das Velhas is worth a visit as is La Scarpetta. In Viana, Portas da Ribeira has great fresh fish. Ponte de Lima is worth a visit. All in all, a very enjoyable week.

We all had a wonderful holiday, the sun shone every day. The villa had everything you needed, we all felt very relaxed. We loved the BBQ area, enjoyed many beautiful meals. The "Piazza" restaurant we highly recommend on the main road on the left heading into town and La Scarpetta (but check the opening times). Thanks for everything.

A great holiday had by all. the house had everything a family would need for a great holiday, including some wonderful tips from the visitors book. Enjoyed numerous games of pool when the rain fell and the pool was wonderful when the sun shone. Beaches we would recommend - Moledo and Gelfa (which is just the far end of Ancora). Pizzas from "Piazza" about 2km away on the road to Villa Nova. The town of Villa Nova was full of surprises so be sure to go along the river in the town and check out the various parks, climbing walls, cycle track etc. Great market there every Saturday morning. Caminha also worth a visit to/from the beach.

We have had a most enjoyable week here at Casa de Gondarem and the green coast area of Portugal. The garden are delightful and although we did not meet the gardener, we wish to say ‘thanks’ it was a great to relax in such wonderful surround. We highly recommend the river beaches of Rio Coura (1) near Vilar de Mouros (on the EM517 cross the bridge and turn left, follow the road to the end and river beach and waterfalls are there) (2) another great river beach is near Paredes de Coura (head for’ Fluvial’ before town centre). This river beach is much larger and well supported, grounds include bar/café, toilets and diving board!! Finally, we also recommend the kayaking down the Rio Minho (booked through AnimaMinho on 00351 962 892 606 or the Wood Craft / Bike Hire hut on the river of Vila Nova de Cerveira). Angustine was our guide, he spoke good English and we had a fantastic time (4 hours), we beached on a couple of islands, the best one being Boega Island, walking through the wooded area then paddling through the marsh lands of this enchanting island. Hope all future guests have as much fun as we had.

A great find for us. Accommodation was comfortable and well-equipped. The weather improved over the weekend and it has been glorious since Monday. We made good use of the tennis court (& the neighbours were good enough to return the miss-hits!) & pool. Enjoyed a lovely meal in A Guarda (Galicia, Spain) at 'Restaurante Marusia – La Casa del Bogavante’ (speciality seafood). . Our favourite beach was Praia da Arda as there was good surf on Thursday (& quiet!). Sad to go. Thank you, we hope to return.

Extremely well equipped villa and very colourful! We suggest a walk along the beach from Foz do Minho to Moledo and the train to Porto which takes just under 2 hours and is very reasonably priced. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Gondarem.
