Client Reviews for La Rajoleria

The property was as we expected from the description and we enjoyed our holiday, thank you for the excellent service.

We loved La Rajoleria, had a fascinating conversation with the owners who have owned all the surrounding land for generations. Would certainly consider going there again.

Palafrugell really did grow on us. Friendly people, great market, lovely square to hang out in. The coastline is wonderful.

A wonderful two weeks of chilling and peaceful tranquillity for us - Thank you Vintage Travel. A beautiful old place, full of historic interest and wonderful picturesque surroundings also. Pool was just wonderful for cooling off in and many photographs and sketches attest to our wonderful and happy two weeks here, always in our memory.

A great two weeks exploring the coast with our little ones, aged 3 & 1. Aiguablava was our favourite beach by far - good fine sand for sand castle building, very scenic and inviting water. We loved the wander into Palafrugell for our morning coffee and food shopping in the market. Girona was great for a day out, lovely to wander the old streets - well shaded and plenty of cafes and restaurants. We enjoyed a boat trip to the Medes Islands.

It's been a wonderful week, with so much to do and see. The market on Sunday is a must, selling fruit, veg, fish, meats, clothes, etc. There are so many coves and lovely beaches. Villa fab - loads of space for us all. A great holiday!

We've had a really great time. Our first time on this coast. The best thing about it is there is so much to do. Girona is certainly worth a visit and tapas! There are loads of 'Vias Verdes'. We cycled from here to Palamos and back via Castell beach. It is easy and gorgeous. We loved it here. Someone said to us it grows on you and it certainly has us!

Really enjoyed the property, it was perfect for our family with young children and grandparents, and would consider staying there again.

For us the highlight of the property was the garden surrounding the pool; lavender alive with bees, delightful rose bushes and a number of scented plants. If you didn’t want to sit at the table under the “taverna” there were other areas to sit, including under an olive tree set into a well-maintained area of lawn. The pool itself, although only 6m long, was perfectly adequate, regularly maintained, and the whole garden/pool area is well screened. The location is indeed convenient for access to the town and it is an easy walk down into the centre. I think “5 minutes walk” is overly optimistic but it is only 1 km to the centre and on Sundays you walk down through the market that spreads up the street towards you – worth a visit. On first appearance Palafrugell doesn’t seem to have much to offer, no medieval centre for instance, but the more we went the more we liked it. The people were polite and helpful and it was really pleasant to sit in the Placa Nova and see the local people of all age groups enjoying the scene (or local bands on several of the evenings we were there). A top tip is to go on day 1 to the information desk in the theatre building in the Placa Nova and get the day-by-day list of what’s on. There is plenty to see in the Costa Brava and Vintage’s rep Valerie lives locally and provided much useful information (for example, exactly where to park in Girona). We preferred Llafranc to Tamariu and if any of your party are good horse riders then Hipica Begur (just before Begur and on the right down a track) offered good value and an exciting two hour “hack” (more like “canter”) through the woods.

Our second visit to the area (Begur first time) and another fantastic villa! Like the previous guests we have sourced most of our food from the daily market - it's particularly worth a visit on Sundays. Our kids (6 and 20 months)prevented us from being too adventurous with restaurants, although we did have a pretty good meal at Mas Oliver (5 minute drive). Apart from that we've just a lovely time enjoying the pool and watching the kids having fun.
