Visit the nearby town of Figueres
and go to the wacky Salvador Dalí museum. It's a lot of fun and well worth braving the queues! The shopping is very good here, too!
Take a pic-nic and drive across to the reservoir,
La Pantalla de Boadella, and enjoy the facilities available such as water skiing, kayaking and wake boarding from the sports centre at Darnius.
There are some reputable vineyards nearby
among the most famous being Peralada and Capmany. After tasting the delicious whites and reds, if you are tempted to purchase, sit on the terrace by the pool and watch the sun go down with a glass of something suitable to hand!
Go and visit the tortoise sanctuary in Gariguella.
For golf enthusiasts,
play a round at the new Torre Mirona course, just west of Figueres. There is also a Wellness Centre and Spa treatments available for the less energetic. Tel: (00 34) 972 55 37 37
Go and check out the beaches of the lovely bays of
Llança and El Port de la Selva, both of which have some superb seafront fish restaurants.
Take the scenic coast road and cross the border into France
and visit the picturesque little town of Collioure.
Visit one of the most famous Natural Parks
- Cap de Creus. This unforgiving and rugged coastline is steeped in history and intrigue!
Catch the train from Figueres and visit Barcelona.
It's well worth spending at least one day in this vibrant and exciting city!
Visit the Greek and Roman ruins at Empuries.
On the way back stop off at Empuriabrava, with its man made canals, and enjoy an ice cream while strolling around and admiring the boats! Hide out in one of the camouflaged cabins and count the numerous species of birds.
There are many sporting facilities available from Cadaques,
including horse riding and water based activities like scuba diving and windsurfing.
The house sits on the edge of Albera national park
and so it is possible to enjoy some fantastic walking straight from the property itself. Alternatively, for a change, it is possible to take guided tours at Cap de Creus.

Afterwards take a cruise on a traditional rigged sailing boat, which leaves from the harbour.
Catch the train from Figueres and visit Girona,
which has a beautifully preserved Jewish quarter. Visit the great shops and indulge in some retail therapy!
Take a day out and visit Besalú,
which is the provincial capital of the Garrotxa and has some beautifully restored buildings as well as the famous Romanesque bridge, which was built in the 12th Century but restored in 1965.
Visit the Monastery of Sant Pere de Rodes
which is in a fantastic location with breathtaking views of both the sea and the mountains.
Indulge in the Wine Spa services
at the Hotel Golf Peralada and enjoy treatments with products derived from vines and wine!
Thursday is market day in Figueres
and is well worth browsing for bargains among the stalls. Buy some lovely fresh fruit and vegetables and go back to La Sureda and prepare a delicious lunch followed by a well-earned siesta by the pool!
Visit the Castle and museum
at Peralada and for a special night out visit the casino and have a flutter!
Visit the Empordà Marshes Natural Park
in the bay of Roses between Castelló and Sant Pere Pescador where you will see some fascinating species of birds, wildlife and plants.
