Great things to do near Stasinos
Exuding a special character all of its own and friendly locals, Lakka is a good choice for a day out. Situated to in the north of Paxos, there are numerous small shops, bars and restaurants to enjoy in this charming village. Head to some of the excellent beaches close by where you will find water sports or take a walk through the olive groves heading towards the lighthouse that lights the headland at night.

Harami and Kanoni beaches
These two beaches are situated within the Bay of Lakka. With clear blue waters, the beaches are very popular with families due to the bay being protected from rough seas making it the perfect spot for swimming.

Situated just around the corner from Lakka on the east coast, is the charming fishing village of Loggos. The tiny village is centred on the horse-shoe shaped harbour which is surrounded by tavernas and bars. Take a seat, order a coffee and gaze out towards the sea whiling away the hours.

Visit the very famous 'little sister' of Paxos where the beach resembles the white sand of the Caribbean. Whilst there, why not sample some of the local wine which is coveted by the Paxiots? Or venture into the centre to the tiny village of Vigla with its maze of narrow paths which lead to the many orchards and vineyards where you can sample figs, almonds and lemons. Well worth a days visit!

Hop on an excursion boat to the West Coast
Exposed by open sea and pounded by the waves in the winter months, the West Coast of Paxos is impressive to see! Limestone cliffs have been eroded into fantastic shapes whilst sea caves, free-standing monolithic rocks and Tripitos Arch can also be observed. An excursion boat is the only way to see this astounding view as rented boats cannot be taken to this side of the Island.

Take to the water
Lakka is well known for its water sports with there being a water sports club on the beach. Many water activities are available here such as windsurfing and water skiing whilst topper sailing boats and pedaloes can be hired by the hour or day.

Indulge in some 'retail therapy'
A large number of shops can be found in the three main villages on Paxos: Gaios, Loggos and Lakka. Best buys include craft ware and tapestry works which are of a good quality and jewellery which is of a high standard and priced reasonably.

Walk the length of the island
Paxos, only 10km long and 4km wide, is easily walkable. Pass by tiny villages, old churches and olive presses as you enjoy the scenery around you. Fine coastal walks can be enjoyed on the east of the island while climbing steep slopes can be found on the west coast.

Head to Erimitis Bay
During the day, thousands of sea birds can be viewed from this fantastic bay. Head to Erimitis Bay in the evening and you will be able to enjoy the impressive sunset. Book a table at the popular 'Sunset Bar' which is renowned for being the best place to watch the sun set over the sea. Grab a drink, sit back and relax!

Go to another island for the day - Corfu
Steeped in history, Corfu is a great place to visit for the day. Visit one of the most popular historic attractions on the Island, The Old Fort, and take in the magnificent views over the city from the top of the fort. Enjoy a little 'retail therapy' with Corfu being famous for making and designing gold Greek jewellery. Or simply just explore the city; there is much to see including palaces, Venetian fortresses and Mon Repos palace, the birthplace of Prince Phillip.

The largest town and Capital of Paxos, life is focused on the harbour front; a popular place for yachts and local boats to moor. Take a walk through this colourful town influenced by Venetian and British heritage whilst popping into the great variety of tavernas, boutiques and old fashioned shops which are available.

For the best view of the Island...
... hire a boat! A perfect way to visit many of the hidden beaches and coves which cannot be reached on foot. A wonderful chance to relax and discover the island from the sea.

For wine lovers...
.... Paxos is the place to be! Sample Retsina; a traditional dry white table wine with added pine resin which can be found in most restaurants in Paxos. Or try some of the coveted wine produced in Anti-Paxos; the red wine is said to be rich and unique in taste whilst reputedly being the best in the Ionian!

Snorkelling is very popular in Paxos especially in Lakka. Buy your own equipment from the local shops or take a visit to the diving centre based in Lakka where open-water dives, courses and tuition is offered.

Visit the many beaches of Paxos
Paxos is home to many beaches all different from each other. From fine shingle beaches to secret beach hideaways, Paxos has it all! Choose a beach and spend the day in the crystal clear waters which are perfect for swimming.

What a great place to spend the day. Between Lakka and Loggos. Great drive down to it and great parking. It has a fab taverna on the beach. The beach is lovely and good for Snorkelling, and there is also a lovely sea water pool. Definately spend the day here.
