Take a stroll through your own private wood
Casa Algendar is situated in its own private estate, so only the guests staying there have access to the wood, so you won´t see another person.
Visit the ancient quarry
which is also in the private estate that belongs to the house. There are small quarries all over Menorca, that once supplied the stone for buildings in the area. Once the industrial activity stopped, nature took over once again and what remains today are places of beauty that are very much valued by the Menorcans. The quarry at Casa Algendar is particularly beautiful and is set in the middle of the pine wood, so it is cool even on the hottest of days.
Spend an evening at Son Martorellet
'Somni' is an amazing equestrian show where you'll have a chance to see Menorca's famous black horses. Yet it's not only for horse lovers, it also has acrobats, dancers and music blended together with innovative visual effects to create a stunning performance. For a change from the pool
Visit Cala Galdana and enjoy a swim in the large sandy bay. This tasteful tourist resort is just a short drive from Casa Algendar and is a wonderful place to spend the day. There is also a great choice of restaurants and bars, some of which have toboggans and other activities for the children.
Starting opposite the Hotel Audax at Cala Galdana
take the "Cami de Cavalls" path and walk through the pine wood to Cala Macarella, a beautful, natural beach. There is plenty of shade, so no need to take a parasol and you can have a drink or snack in the little bar that is tucked away in the trees at the back of the beach.
was voted Spain´s best beach by readers of Go Magazine. With its white sands and crystal clear turquoise waters, it really is stunning. Take the road to Cala Gardana and park the car in the car park that you see just before you reach the resort. The beach is about a 10 minute walk from the car park, but it is via shady paths and is easy underfoot. The area is completely unspoilt, so you won´t see any cars or buildings, just a backdrop of trees and pretty Menorcan countryside.
Look for Tortoises
in the garden and see how many you can find.
