Great things to do near Casa Rustica
Discover the "Pueblos Blancos"
Dotted around the mountains are many wonderful white washed villages to explore. A firm favourite with many guests is Grazalema, nestled in the heart of the National Park, the Sierra de Grazalema. Just the wonderful drive there is worth it! It has an excellent choice of cafes and restaurants. You can easily spend the afternoon browsing the array of gift shops selling local produce such as hand woven wool shawls and blankets, pottery, cheese, cakes, wine and leather goods.

Be King of the Castle!
The picturesque village of Zahara de La Sierra is seen from the villa. It's a steep walk up to the medieval castle perched high above the rooftops - but well worth the effort for the fabulous views over the lake, the terracota roof tiles below and the mountains far beyond. Zahara is a small, but lively mountain village with a welcoming square to sit and have a drink to cool off

Make a wish!
Casa Rustica is perched on the border of the Sierra de Grazalema National Park. An area of great protected beauty. On a warm summer's evening, Casa Rustica is a perfect retreat to sit and star gaze, it is not uncommon to see shooting stars!

Feria time
Experience all the fun of the fair at a 'feria'. Every city, town and village has one at some time during the year, with fairground attractions for the young (and the not-so-young!), music, dancing, and marquees serving food and drink. The party goes on all night, and if you find yourselves flagging, have some sinfully delicious chocolate and churros to perk you up. In nearby Algodonales the Feria is at the end of July.

You can't miss Ronda
The historic town of Ronda is a short drive away and is one of the most beautiful towns in all of Spain. Its impressive gorge and famous bridge are not to be missed. A stroll through the old town feels like you have turned the clock back in time. The third most visited place in Andalucia, Ronda has something for everyone.

"2 de Mayo" celebrations in Algodonales
A great event, normally the first weekend in May, 2 de Mayo is a celebration of the Spanish War of Independence between 1808 and 1814, when Spain fought against the First French Empire of Napoleon I. Re-enactments of battles are performed, all locals dress in traditional costume, and you really feel you have stepped into the past.

Visit Jerez and try the local tipple - Sherry!
Many of the wine cellars in Jerez include other attractions such as art galleries, museums, equestrian demonstrations and flamenco shows as well as bodega tours and wine sampling. Go for the day and enjoy the whole Jerez experience under one roof. Jerez is under an hour from Casa Rustica

Enjoy the water of Zahara's lake
Looking out towards the glistening waters of Lake Zahara you will surely be tempted to go down and explore. You can hire Kayaks on the lake and explore in the summer months.

Mix with the locals in Algodonales
Algodonales is lively market town, around the main sqaure and side streets there is any array of little shops offering all you'll need; grocers, bakers, butchers etc. The locals are really friendly and will make you welcome. The main square has an array of little bars and cafes where you can try the local tapas with a cool drink on the terrace. The weekly market is worth a visit too.
