Sit under the old Oak Tree and enjoy the views!
Perfectly positioned to add shade and a relaxing place to sit and contemplate the views. The Oak tree above the pool area has commanding views over the valley and beyond to the picturesque village of Olvera. From here you can enjoying birwatching too, with the many species of birds to be found here, in particular the Griffon Vultures.
Make the most of village life
The pretty white washed village of El Gastor is just 900m from the villa. The friendly locals will make you feel very welcome. It has small shops, butcher and bakers - you can find most things you will need here. The local cafes in the square are a great place to sit and take a coffee break and watch the word go by.
Relax by the pool
Sit back, relax on the terrace by the pool, with a glass of something delicious to hand and gaze out at the fabulous panorama of olive groves which stretch endlessly before you!
Pristinely whitewashed facades, with wrought iron balconies cascading with a multi-coloured array of geraniums awaits you in the “Pueblo Blanco” of El Gastor. Explore the narrow streets and discover hidden corners in this small unspoilt corner of Andalucia.
Join in the fun!
The Spanish love a party and know how to do it well! The first weekend of August is the Feria in El Gastor, with plenty of socialising, flamenco singing and dancing, horses, bulls and games to enjoy. In the first week of October the locals also pay homage to their Patron Saint, "Virgen del Rosario", celebrating with colourful processions. It's a lovely experience and a chance to see the true Andalusian spirit.
Don't miss Ronda!
The historic town of Ronda is a short drive away (30 mins) and is one of the most beautiful towns in all of Spain. Its impressive gorge and famous bridge are not to be missed. A stroll through the old town feels like you have turned the clock back in time. The third most visited place in Andalucia, Ronda has something for everyone.
Visit a local vineyard
The Ronda region has a respectable choice of wines and you can visit many of the local Bodegas. At Doña Felisa near Ronda you can visit the vineyard, sample the various wines produced with tapas included. Booking is required, so contact the bodega and make an appointment. www.chinchillawine.com
Visit La Alhambra Palace and gardens
A great day trip to do is visit the Alhambra palace in Granada, just over a two-hour drive away. Tickets must be booked well in advance though, so book online before your holiday to avoid being disappointed! www.alhambra-tickets.es
Take a tapas tour round Ronda
Ronda has a great atmostphere in the evenings, and a tour of the local tapas bars is a must! There are both modern contemporary bars and more traditional bars to explore. A quick drink and small tapa in each bar, and it wont cost you an arm and leg either!
Take a dip in the cool waters, La Playita
Driving around the nearby lake at Zahara in a car can be hot stuff in the summer months, so why not cool off at the lagoon “La Playita”. This manmade lagoon has a cafe, zip wire across the waters and shaded areas for picnics.
A firm favourite with many guests is a visit to the mountain village of Grazalema. Just the wonderful drive there is enjoyable. It has an excellent choice of places to eat, at very reasonable prices. You can easily spend an afternoon wandering around the array of gift shops selling local hand made products. Hand woven wool shawls and blankets, pottery and ceramics, cheese, cakes and leather goods can all be found here.
