Spend a lazy day
sitting on the terrace and watching the ever changing sea scape play out before you - from the slow and dignified sailing boats to the powerful yachts - all seemingly within touching distance.


Take one of the paths that lead down to the rocky inlets of Aigua Xelida
and enjoy snorkelling in the crystal clear waters. Take a fishing line and while away some time on the rocks trying to catch the evening's supper!


The golden sandy beach of Aigua Blava
is a very short drive away. Justifiably awarded a coveted Blue Flag, this beach boasts the finest and softest sand in the immediate area. Relax in the restaurant overlooking the bay and enjoy the freshest of grilled fish, accompanied by a glass of chilled white wine.


Drive down to the pretty bay of Tamariu
and spend the evening absorbing the atmosphere of this delightful village. It is a favourite with local fishermen, whose colourful artisan boats provide the perfect backdrop for the handful of excellent restaurants that adorn the picturesque seafront promenade


Explore nearby Begur in the evening..
Enjoy dinner in one of the many fine restaurants in the old quarter and stroll around the many stalls selling jewellery and handicrafts. Sit amongst the locals with a digestif and enjoy the atmosphere.


Drive to nearby Begur
and climb up to the castle from where there are far reaching views. The most noteworthy are those towards the Medes Islands, long ago a refuge for pirates and smugglers, although today they are famous as a marine nature reserve.


Go for a day trip to Figueres
and visit the Teatre-Museu Dalí and enjoy the wacky experience, which will appeal to all members of the family. It is a lot of fun and well worth braving the queues! Afterwards, pay a visit to the lesser known Museu del Joguet de Catalunya (toy museum), also in Figueres. Tel: 972 504 585


Visit the fabulous city of Girona for the day
taking in the beautifully restored Jewish Quarter, the Arab Baths, the cathedral, its museums and the many shops. Why not pay a visit to Cacao Sampaka, C/Santa Clara, 45 to indulge in the finest products using chocolate - cakes, drinks, spreads, ice creams to name a few!


Visit the Sunday morning market in nearby Palafrugell
and soak up the atmosphere with a drink in the main square. Later visit the magnificent wine store of Jordi Grau and enjoy a glass of wine with a 'tapa'.


Catch the train to Barcelona
from either Flaça or Caldes de Malavella and enjoy a day in this vibrant city where there is so much to see and do. The tourist buses are one way of ensuring that you see the major sights - just hop on and off and take it at your own pace. Wander down Las Ramblas and enjoy the atmosphere and the excitement and visit the eye catching colourful displays of fruit and vegetables in La Boqueria market.


Drive across to the majestic bay of Llafranc
and then spend the day relaxing on this gorgeous beach. Perhaps rent a kayak or try snorkelling off the rocks at the side of the bay. Before returning home enjoy a cooling drink on the promenade and do some 'people watching.'

is available at Canapost Cavalls de Forallac (tel: 649 43 14 80). Hipica Begur (tel 619 23 60 73) also offer night excursions, carriage rides and for those who do not wish to take to horseback, Kart Cross excursions can be taken from here.


For the motor sport enthusiasts visit the Circuit de Catalunya,
just off Exit 13 of the AP7. Guided tours are available to include entry to the paddock, the control tower, the podium, for example. www.circuitcat.com. Enjoy a guided walking tour around some of the sights of the Baix Empordà.

Visit the spectacular Greek and Roman settlement of Empuries.
Enjoy a lunch of fresh anchovies from L'Escala - a local speciality. On the way back, visit the pre-roman Iberian settlement of Ullastret and see how life was 2,500 years ago compared to today's world!

Play a round of golf!

Walk amongst all the different exotic Mediterranean flora and fauna
at the Botanical Gardens of Cap Roig where you get magnificent panoramic views of the coastline that stretches from Calella to the cliffs of Cap Roig.


Drive across to Calella
and stroll beneath the beamed archways "Voltes" situated along the front of Port bo beach. Enjoy an evening drink in Tony's Bar and watch the twinkling lights of the fishing boats out at sea.
