Aloni   2 Bedrooms   |   2 Bathrooms   |   Air Conditioning | WiFi | Beach 2km | Taverna 2km   |   Sleeps 4

  • Ground floor: Open plan living/dining room/kitchen (TV, DVD, WiFi, dishwasher, oven, microwave, washing machine) with doors to terrace.
  • First Floor: Double bedroom (A/C) with en suite shower room and covered terrace (steps to pool/sun terrace). Twin bedroom (A/C) with en suite shower room and patio (steps to shaded dining terrace).
  • Outside: In built barbecue. Sun terrace. Shaded dining terrace. Private parking.
  • Private, half moon-shaped, infinity swimming pool (8m x 4m) with corner Roman steps.

Approaching Aloni for the first time, it seems hidden away above the traditional stone walls that enclose the pretty surrounding garden. A splendid semi-circular pool reflects the history of the original site as a thresher’s circle (as does the Greek name) and the wonderful views vie with an intimate traditional interior for a truly lasting first impression. Comfortable outside terrace furniture ensure that many hours are spent admiring the views of Skala, the countryside and the vivid blue of the Ionian Sea. To one side, a shaded terrace houses the barbecue for al fresco meals and evenings spent listening to the cicadas and goats’ bells in the distance.

In the open plan living/dining and kitchen area sturdy wooden beams and warming tones of the exposed stone walls immediately establish a gently relaxing atmosphere (direct views onto the pool mean that aquatic activity can even be monitored from the comfort of the sofa!).

Thoughtful, contemporary décor combined with the traditional setting create a welcoming airy finish, the various windows framing lovely panoramas out to the horzon and which perfectly complement the infinity pool.

Built on two levels, the bedrooms are on the upper floor; a pretty double bedroom with a fabulous patio covered with vines and a twin bedroom enjoying equally stunning patio sea views. The open plan living, dining, and kitchen are on the ground floor, delightfully decorated, with a glass table, chairs and comfy sofa. All open out onto the terrace where sunloungers are inviting in the sunshine, with umbrellas provide shade in the heat of the day.

Ideally located with a choice of beaches at the bottom of the hillside, this quiet, rural spot is just 2km from Skala beach and the village with a good choice of tavernas and shops. Slightly further on, you’ll find the unspoilt beach of Mounda and the smaller village of Katelios (7km) with tiny beachside fish tavernas.

Kefalonia is an oenologist's delight. The celebrated Metaxas winery is 12km from the villa in Mavrata and the co-operatives of Gentilini and Robola are also not to be missed for the quality (and attractive prices) of their local wines.
