Designed with more than a passing reference to the Art Deco style of the 1920’s, this outstanding property was conceived by a master glassmaker which is evidenced in some exquisite feature stained glass windows as well as the striking design of the glazing in the façade. Renovated in 2012, great care has been taken in updating and furnishing the house to the highest standard.

Taking centre stage in the property, the living room has a double-height ceiling and full length windows which, coupled with fresh white walls, create a luminosity and sense of space so rarely found. Its elevation on the first floor affords a wonderful view over the garden, across a small park, to the pleasure boats moored along the quay.

On the top floor, the stylish bedrooms are decorated in contemporary style, two of them revelling in the aforementioned unique view, one through a porthole-style window that again pays homage to Art Deco.

On the lower level, the spacious kitchen-diner walks out onto a good sized decking terrace with outdoor lounge and dining furniture. Catching the morning sun, it is a perfect spot for enjoying al fresco breakfasts. Round to the south side, housed in a courtyard style terrace, the plunge pool is great for cooling off and also 'on the spot' swimming against the artificial current.

Surely one of the most sought after locations in Brittany, it is a mere 600m stroll along the riverbank to reach the very heart of Pont-Aven, whose attractive streets are lined with art galleries, gift boutiques and antique shops, a legacy of the celebrated Pont-Aven group of artists and its most influential member, painter Paul Gauguin. The town offers local shops and is well blessed with some excellent restaurants and traditional creperies, the nearest being just 300m from the house.

Venturing outside of the delightful Pont-Aven, you will find a beautiful coastline of sandy beaches, rocky cliffs and tiny inlet harbours. The nearest beach is Port Manec'h (10km), a family-friendly stretch of white sand with a water sports centre offering sea-kayaking, sailing and windsurfing. Concarneau (15km) is well worth a visit, especially for a wander around the Ville Close, the walled old town that juts out into the harbour. And a similar distance in the other direction, in Quimperlé (17km), there is the unusual choice of exploring its cobbled streets on foot or navigating the town by river in a canoe or kayak.
