With plenty of surrounding space, various appealing nooks and crannies reveal themselves, including the large covered barbecue area and adjacent dining terrace where the chequerboard-tiled table and refectory-style benches are an irresistible invitation to linger over lunch or dawdle over dinner!

A sparkling private pool beckons in the sunshine while sunloungers and a shady pergola, at the very front of the terrace, help make the most of those spectacular views.

The gentle rustic ambience continues inside where the traditionally furnished living area has an ornamental fireplace in one corner and various historic footnotes giving a respectful nod to those ancestors who dwelt there in times gone by.

Decorated in soothing tones of mocha and green, each bedroom has a set of French windows opening onto a long L-shaped balcony providing another lovely spot for breakfast or an evening aperitif whilst revelling in that sweeping uninterrupted vista of countryside and ocean.

Only 2km away, Aghios Constantinos (also called Glyfoneri) is the closest beach where a couple of simple beachside tavernas make this a pleasant destination for a lazy day doing very little... while someone else does the cooking.

Skopelos Town (3km) is the hub of the island; an unspoilt jewel of the Sporades where gleaming whitewashed houses, their red roofs adding an eye-catching splash of colour, haphazardly climb the hillsides fringing the harbour. Laid-back and friendly in equal measure, the island capital warmly welcomes all visitors to its varied selection of shops, tavernas and cafes intermingled with myriad tiny churches tucked away in the narrow streets. The oldest and most historic part of the town (Kastro) is just 2km from Glysteri and has a good supermarket as well as a celebrated taverna.

Exploring the island is a delight, the beaches of Stafylos, Kastania and Agnondas each have their own individual appeal, the port of Panormos is a quiet backwater great for people watching and, in the north, Glossa is a shining example of the timeless quality that permeates this gorgeous island. Strolling the many footpaths that trail through plum orchards, olive groves, fields of local crops and sunlight-dappled woodland rich with birdsong, the beauty, peace and tranquillity will surely refresh the most jaded of spirits.

Villa rental includes private return taxi from Skiathos airport to the ferry port and ferry crossing to/from Skopelos.
