This charming old country cottage has been lovingly restored and dates back over one hundred years. Wonderful rural views that descend down a valley to the dazzling blue waters of Glysteri and Glyfoneri beaches (4km) can be admired from the main terrace and pool terrace of Glysteri.
With plenty of space surrounding the villa, various nooks and crannies reveal themselves; to one side is the barbecue with a chequerboard tiled table and benches for outdoor dining. The pool beckons in the mid day sun, sunloungers and a picturesque pergola are at the very front of the terrace, making the most of the spectacular views. The rustic feel continues in the main living area with traditional furniture offset by a fireplace in the corner and some historic footnotes giving a nod to those ancestors who dwelt there in times gone by.
On the first floor, the double and twin bedroom have soothing tones of chocolate browns and greens both have French doors opening onto the balcony with its uninterrupted vistas of countryside and ocean, perfect for early breakfasts or evening drinks.
Aghios Constantinos (2km) is actually closer than Glysteri beach, only a couple of tavernas make it ideal for a lazy day doing very little, and letting someone else do the cooking or make full use of the barbecue accompanied by the essential Greek salad and maybe try an ouzo or local retsina.
Skopelos harbour (3km) is the hub of the island; an unspoilt little jewel of the Sporades islands, whitewashed houses gleam in the sunshine where, gathered around the harbour front they climb the hillsides behind, with the red roofs a splash of colour. It is a laid back town that welcomes visitors, shops, tavernas and cafe bars mingle with the many tiny churches tucked away narrow cobbled streets, whilst higher up, Kastro (2km) has a mini market for the everyday necessities.
Exploring the island is a delight, the beaches of Stafylos, Kastania and Agnondas each have their own appeal, the port of Panormos is a quiet backwater great for people watching and in the north, Glossa has a timeless quality that is reflected throughout the island.
Walking along the many footpaths and tracks that trail through plum orchards, olive groves, fields of wheat and woods rich with birdsong and dappled sunlight, the peace and tranquillity of this natural paradise will relax and refresh even the most jaded palate!
