A French owner and therefore it is a French name that denotes this quaint country cottage hidden away off a rural track in a lush corner of the south-east and yet just a few kilometres from the old market town of Llucmajor. Far removed from life’s general hustle and bustle, this is a perfect house to choose if you are seeking seclusion, tranquillity and the sound of birdsong in a lovely pastoral setting. Indeed, it was respect for these unspoilt environs and a strong desire not to impinge on views towards the mountains and elevated monasteries of Cura and Randa that inspired the owner to install solar power at the property.

An impressive entrance with its avenue of palms welcomes you to grounds of some six acres planted with a comprehensive array of indigenous plants, shrubs, giant cacti, vegetables and fruit trees including olives, lemons, figs, apricots and plums. Nestled in the foliage, your first introduction to this delightfully rustic, stone farmhouse is by way of a beamed dining terrace artfully incorporated into the body of the property by a wall of flat-folding glass panels (helpful in the control of fresh air access and interior temperature). Here you will certainly want to spend time at the dining table sampling the results of the in built barbecue - and maybe even the original bread oven?

Stepping further inside the décor is equally appealing and the result of a careful restoration by artistic owners. High wooden beams overlook walls of exposed stone, touches of antique ceramics, country-themed memorabilia and original paintings of local scenes all have effect. The good size double bedroom and smaller twin bedroom are separated by a well-appointed shower room off the internal hallway.

Meandering through the garden, a gravelled pathway leads up to the lovely pool area, a real oasis of charm and calm fringed by impressive, mature flora. An ample, decked sun terrace sits to one side with a further covered dining area and an open air shower partly ensconced, safari-style, amongst the adjacent foliage.

Haphazardly criss-crossed by winding country lanes, the surrounding landscape is great territory for bird watching and walking. You are also just 4km from Llucmajor where all amenities can be found and several beaches easily reached including Recó de S’Arenal (23km), Cala en Timó (24km) and Cala Pi (25km). The long sandy beach at Ses Covetes/Es Trenc (27km) is backed by some impressive dunes and is also a favourite with naturists while golfers will definitely want to visit the two 18 hole courses at nearby Son Antem (10km).

*As the house is solar powered Roger, the property owner, asks that use of either the dishwasher or the washing machine is limited to once per day.
