Surrounded by mature foliage, well appointed and very pleasantly decorated, first impressions on arrival at Ca'n Gató Vives are certainly appealing. Whatever that elusive quality is which makes a house an instantly welcoming home from home, it can be found here in abundance!

    Ca'n Gató Vives

Externally the speckled tiles of the roof and dusky-coloured façade of orange and ochre hues belie a surprisingly contemporary interior. Suspended from chunky wooden beams, atmospheric lighting overhangs an oval-shaped glass dining table that designates the tasteful living area from the gleaming, thoroughly modern kitchen. Breakfast can be enjoyed on a delightful veranda whose terracotta tiles are cooled by the dappled shade from the rambling white rose overhead.

Further evidence of the property owner’s gardening talents can be seen in the interesting variety of pretty potted plants dotted amongst the pine trees, bougainvillaea, indigenous shrubs and fruit trees including loquats, figs, apples, grapes, grenadines and olives that populate the grounds providing a verdant holiday backdrop.

An independent bathroom and bedroom on each floor offers sharing parties an additional degree of privacy with each bedroom also having exterior access onto either a garden patio (downstairs) or a balcony (upstairs) from where attractive views across to the Tramuntana foothills can be enjoyed.

Separating the private pool area from the house itself a whimsical, arc-shaped wall is artfully reminiscent of the bow of a ship but its much more mundane purpose is simply to conceal the machinery that keeps the pool functioning! A quirky little detail, but indicative of the careful consideration given by the owner to the house and surroundings.

At Ca'n Gató Vives you are perfectly placed for easy exploration of what is, undoubtedly, one of Mallorca’s most celebrated and attractive areas. Appealing to walkers and cyclists alike, an intricate network of trails and rural lanes criss-crosses the surrounding landscape. Bird watchers and lovers of wildlife, flora and fauna have the famous S’Albufereta Nature Reserve within a ten minute drive whilst the sports-minded have tennis, golf, water sports and scuba diving all vying for attention nearby.

Historic Pollença Town is a treat. Enjoy a browse in the little boutiques, a meal in one of the many excellent restaurants, an evening cocktail or morning coffee in the lively town square, a concert at the annual music festival, the fascinating Sunday market or any one of the numerous local events and fiestas. No matter when we visit something interesting always seems to be happening.

Air conditioning usage is on a timer.
