Situated on the edge of the pretty Provençal village of St Cézaire, this delightful stone house has been meticulously created by the owner, a talented local carpenter, to display all the character of a woodcutter’s cottage whilst offering a comfortable and spacious feel throughout.
In the open plan living area, the traditional furnishings complement the caramel coloured stonework and thick wooden beams. The owner’s stamp continues throughout much of the house with items such as the delicately handcrafted grandfather clock and beautifully finished bench style dining table creating a deliberate rusticity and warmth.
White walls and soft rosy coloured tiles further accentuate the rustic theme to be found in the well appointed fitted kitchen which offers home from home comfort and practicality. Exposed beams and traditional décor continue in the bedrooms with the principal first floor bedroom boasting a very private balcony.
Attractive landscaped grounds encircle the house.. Walking out from the living room, a long covered terrace punctuated with flowering terracotta pots overlooks the swimming pool. Beyond the house, the terrace extends under a mature oak tree casting dappled shade over a spacious al fresco dining area complete with summer kitchen, again lovingly constructed in stone, wood and tiles.
Keen riders will be delighted to find stables only a brief stroll from the property, and there are also tennis courts in the village. St Cézaire-sur-Siagne is within walking distance (1.2km) offering local shops and restaurants, whilst a more comprehensive choice of amenities is available in popular Grasse (15km), famous for its perfumeries. For some of the most breathtaking views in the area, visit Auribeau-sur-Siagne (18km) with giddying views down the valley, or enjoy a leisurely drive around Lake St Cassien to the west (16km). Alternatively drive down to the coastal resorts to soak up the cosmopolitan atmosphere of the Côte d’Azur; the glamorous boutiques of Cannes and sandy beach at St Raphaël are easily reached in about 40 minutes.
