Wonderfully situated, Myrto is a pretty two storey property with a modern, semi-detached design, only a 2 minute stroll from the beach, shops and tavernas of Kalami. This is a marvellous location for anyone looking to experience a slower pace of life in a small fishing village or simply not wishing to rely on a car for their holiday duration. Or both!

Opening onto the pool terrace are a double and a twin bedroom both with en suite shower rooms, while upstairs the appealing open plan living/dining room and kitchen await inspection. A cool white sofa and an eclectic mix of elegant mirrors and objets d’art create a tastefully informal ambience whilst the high ceilinged kitchen alongside is both stylish and practical. A large glass door opens onto a spacious veranda where glimpses of the sea peep out between the village roof tops. On the same floor a twin bedroom with en suite shower room and balcony is dressed in muted tones of taupe and beige.

Outside, pink and purple bougainvillea and an array of climbing plants adorn the walls surrounding the pool terrace. To further encourage lethargic days unwinding around the pool, interspersed with cooking al fresco, the barbecue stands ready for action - although the biggest holiday dilemma will often be whether to dine in... or walk the temptingly short distance to dine by the sea. Another equally diverting option is to book a table in nearby Agni Bay and hire a water taxi to convey you around the headland in style before dropping you off right in front of your chosen restaurant!

Kalami, chiefly consisting of a lovely curved beach with waterside tavernas, two mini-markets and café-bars, has one road that leads out over the hill to the neighbouring beach of Kouloura. Set in a natural cove, the beach is horseshoe shaped and hidden from the main coastal road, the neighbouring hillsides climbing up to the pretty inland village of Gimari. Much of the indented north-east coastline can be explored by boat with plenty of all shapes, sizes and horsepower available for rental on a daily or weekly basis. For an altogether alternative adventure the local bus service adds further interest to your journeys of discovery. Corfu's highest point, Pantokrator Mountain, topped by an ancient monastery, towers above the olive grove-clad hillsides and numerous timeless villages just waiting to be discovered. One of many places that merit exploration is the deserted village of Ano Perithia, an abandoned Byzantine settlement with beautiful old churches and traditional stone houses.

Please note: Twin beds can be made up as doubles on request – please ask at time of booking.
Internet provision is via a satellite connection.

Great Things to Do Near Myrto

Take a trip to Agios Stefanos

Visit the pretty little fishing village set between Kalami and Kassiopi which is home to waterfront tavernas, mini-markets, shops and boat hire.

Take the evening boat from the Kalami jetty to the 'village' of Agni to enjoy a meal in one of the 3 waterfront tavernas. It is best to book a table beforehand as this village is well known for its food.

Play Golf!

This really is an excellent course, the oldest and currently one of only half a dozen in all of Greece! We have the British to thank for this, for it was created during the time of the British occupation of the Island. You'll find the golf course close to Ermones on the Ropa Valley.

Go to another island for the day - Paxos

A truly idyllic Island – very uncommercial (as are ALL islands are that do not have an airport). Paxos is a tiny Island, with only 3 small coastal villages, and, of course, a very famous little sister in Anti-Paxos (small Paxos!) where the beach reminds you of images from the Caribbean.

Visit the Achileon Palace

Built in the late 19th century, for Sissy (Elisabeth), the empress of Austria. This beautiful palace has wonderful gardens, excellent views and is well worth a visit. You will find it well signposted, and is close to the village of Gastouri, heading south from Corfu town.

Glass bottom boat

This is far more than just a trip on a glass bottom boat. As well as seeing the wonders of the Ionian sea, you'll also be taken to the amazing caves close to Ermones that can only be accessed from the sea, and then you will be left to enjoy the afternoon on Paradise beach - a huge expanse of white sand/shingle beach and aqua marine sea, no road, and only accessed by sea – truly amazing. These trips leave from the village of Paleokastritsa daily.

Read Gerald Durrell's My family and other animals

His book was based on the area of Vigla, Kalami, Kouloura and he writes about the carpets of cyclamen found in the Spring in the area walking up from Kalami to Vigla

Go walking along the many trails.

The coastal path from Agios Stefanos to Nissaki is particularly enjoyable, passing through Kerasia, Kouloura and Kalami. Take your bathing costume, some money for a delicious lunch - and a little bit extra in case you decide to take a taxi back home after over indulging on the wine!

Take a trip to the 3 Islands (Diapondia) off the north coast.

Erikousa, Mathraki and Othoni are 3 very quiet and completely un-commercial islands 11 nautical miles off the north coast of Corfu. This caique trip, mostly departing from the resort of Sidari, takes about 1 hour and is well worth the trip. You can have lunch on one of the Islands, and the photo opportunities on both journeys are brilliant.

Just laze by the pool in the brilliant sunshine.... ..

cooled by a gentle mountain breeze, before rolling into the pool for a lazy swim and feel life's stresses peel away.

An evening boat trip to Corfu Town,

starting in Kassiopi, is a lovely way to while away an evening, and takes the strain away from having to drive in the dark to the fabulous shops in Corfu Town. This is a wonderful way to see Corfu town at night, and to have the added advantage of cruising back in the dark - star gazing on the sea. Heaven!

For a fun day out for the children

(and the adults too) Aqualand is on the 'must do' list for all families visiting the Island. It really is a great place, very relaxing and a lot of fun for all. You'll find it very well signposted throughout the Island. It is located in the village of Agios Ioannis, just 10 minutes out of Corfu Town.

Bird watching

Ornithologists will know about the bird watching in the mountain of Pantokrator, where you can see several different species of hunting birds, amongst others.

Blue flag beaches

See how many blue flag beaches you can swim on during your stay, an ideal way of seeing the Island, experiencing the diversity of the Island, and having a lot of fun at the same time.

Kerasia Beach

With its crystal clear waters which are great for snorkeling, this pebbly beach is one of the most idyllic spots on the island.
