This charming, simply-styled stone property, surrounded by ancient olive trees, is enviably positioned above the bay of Sivota, one of the most natural and unspoilt marinas in the Ionian Islands. Sleepy vistas of yachts and boats meandering into the harbour can be enjoyed for hours whilst gazing out from the private infinity pool, breakfasting on the traditional stone terrace or dining under the stars on the upstairs balcony while the lights in the small harbour side town twinkle below.
Thoughtfully planned to take full advantage of its privileged vantage point and commanding views, the attractive design of Tentoura is evident as soon as you arrive. On the lower level, two double bedrooms benefit from direct access onto the part-shaded terrace bordering the private pool and look out to the stunning panorama across the hillside around the bay and over the sea to the neighbouring islands of Ithaca and Kefalonia. Sunshine sparkling off the blue waters of the Ionian further enhances the sense of relaxation that permeates the bedrooms.
On the upper level the twin bedroom also enjoys those same gorgeous views and has access onto a large balcony through patio doors. The open plan living/dining area also provides access onto the balcony via wide French doors that can be swung open, drawing the sunshine and fresh sea air in to this bright and lofty space. Décor throughout is light and minimalist, with tiled floors helping to keep the property cool in the hot summer months, while air conditioning in each bedroom provides an extra boost of freshness.
Only 500m from Tentoura along steps that lead directly from the hillside to the harbour front, nearby Sivota has a bakery and minimarket for all essentials alongside a good choice of restaurants and tavernas in which to sample the local cuisine. Slightly further afield are the picturesque beaches of Desimi, Mikros Gialos and Steno, all within a 20 minute drive. Each of these beautiful coastal spots is also home to local restaurants and tavernas where you can pick up refreshments during your visit. In just 45 minutes by car you can be in the North of the island where Lefkada Town, the capital, offers a myriad of Mediterranean streets to explore.
The beaches on the western coast of Lefkada are among some of the most beautiful in Greece and well worth discovering – ideally by boat on one of the regular trips leaving from Nydri. In marked contrast to the calm and quite sheltered beaches on the East coast, those in the West tend to be more wild and rugged with water sports such as wind and kite surfing being very popular. Two of the most notable, Porto Katsiki and Egremni have even been listed amongst the top ten beaches in Europe.
