Situated off an unmade country lane a short drive from the historic centre of Ronda, this attractive country home provides smart and comfortable accommodation amidst well maintained and thoughtfully planned grounds.

Its recent design ensures that the house enjoys all of the advantages of modern living, the fittings and appliances being up to date and carefully chosen. At the same time, the use of thick wooden beams, open stone walls and attractive archways adds an air of rusticity, the result of which is charming.

Nevertheless, guests will no doubt be tempted to spend most of their time outside, since the gardens boast not only a pool, but also a children's play area and a court for games of 'paddle', a Spanish game similar to tennis but played on a smaller court. These activities may be supervised from the terrace that flanks the front of the house, to the side of which sits an in-built barbecue and a shaded patio.

A 10 minute drive from the house takes you to the lively town of Ronda, with its wealth of ancient buildings and wide selection of cafés and restaurants serving local fare.

The coast at San Pedro de Alcántara can be reached in 45 minutes, whilst for those who wish to sample the cultural gems of Sevilla, Granada and Córdoba, all three cities are an appealing option for a day trip.

Ruins of Acinipo

The ruins of this 32-hectare city are located at 1.000m above sea level. This was an urban area that thrived in the first century AD when it had a population of some 5.000. The city even minted its own money, which featured bunches of grapes. It has a fascinating amphitheatre.

Ronda's Gorge

If you're visiting Ronda for the first time, don't miss the gorge. We recommend the views from the balconies of the park.

Say Cheese!

The local award winning cheese is made from a goats milk, known as Poyoyo. Many local shops sell a wonderful assortment of special cheeses, Ronda wines, hams and cakes.

Dar un Paseo

Ronda's quintissential Spanish flavour is best experienced in the evenings, so join the locals on their paseo around the old town centre.

Stop for a drink at the Parador

Ronda is a small town and most of it is within walking distance. If you get tired, stop at the cafetería or bar at the Parador. From its terraces, there are wonderful views along the gorge and to the bridge.

Cadiz

Featured recently on many travel and cuisine TV programmes, Cadiz is just an easy drive. This small city known locally as "la Isla", the island, it is completely surrounded by the sea. Its majestic Cathedral sits along the shores of the Atlantic coast. Narrow streets full of charm and old-world character can easily be explored on foot. Visit the lively fish market and be amazed at the fresh tuna caught locally.  Then spend the afternoon on the beach relaxing!

La Pileta Cave

This impressive cave, with its even more impressive wall paintings, is just beyond the nearby village of Benaoján.  The cave is open every day of the week and is best to book in advance. The main festivals in Ronda take place the first week in September. The whole town goes out to drink and dance on the streets. The main social event is the famous corrida on Saturday afternoon. Royals, members of the government and important people come to the town.

Ronda is close to the Natural Park Sierra de Grazalema. Dotted around this magnificent landscape there are many small white washed villages to explore. Its a great place for walkers and bird watcher alike too.

Along the San Pedro road from Ronda, a visit to the Sierra de las Nieves is well worth while. Here you can see the pinsapo, a rare Spanish fir which survived the last Ice Age.

You cannot leave Ronda without going down to the bottom of the gorge. Cross the gorge and drive along this narrow street until you come to the old walls of the town. Turn right and then right again at the bar called Bodega San Francisco. Now simply go downhill.

For the Best Views of Ronda...

A date not to be missed in Ronda, “Ronda Romantica”, normally celebrated in May. The whole town centre comes alive with the Recreation of the Romantic Era. A genuine encounter with the legendary past of this land and its identity.
