La Casa de Anna is a delightful property located in a small residential enclave just 280m from the centre of Vall-llobrega, an authentic Catalan village known for its delicious local wine, beautiful 17th Century stone church and an excellent restaurant that has been serving authentic cuisine for nearly six decades.

The well-appointed home offers comfortable, well laid-out accommodation with a south-facing garden and pool area. Catering is a pleasure in the modern, well-equipped kitchen which conveniently opens directly to a covered outdoor dining area with barbecue.

Three great advantages of La Casa de Anna are in virtue of its situation. Only a few minutes’ walk away is a renowned traditional restaurant and bar; within close proximity is delightful countryside of vineyards, olive groves and forests of cork oaks and an easy 10 minute drive reveals Platja del Castell (3.9km), a staggeringly beautiful sandy beach completely untouched by developers with just an old farmhouse at its eastern end and a boathouse at its western end. This glorious beach is something of a local secret and often missed by visitors to the area.

The nearby fishing harbour of Palamós (5km), famous for its succulent ‘gambas’ (prawns), has a wonderful choice of seafood restaurants and tapas bars scattered amongst its warren of cobbled back streets.  Further afield, a 45 minute drive takes you to the fascinating cathedral city of Girona with its intriguing medieval Jewish quarter and Arabic baths. Closer to hand is Begur, an architectural potpourri of narrow winding alleyways, grand colonial style buildings and a stunning 11th Century hilltop castle.

Great Things to Do Near La Casa de Anna

Visit the Museum dedicated to fishing at Palamós harbour,

then watch the fishing fleet come in at 5pm when the fish auction commences. Why not round off the evening with a night cruise under the stars on a traditional Latin rigged Catalan fishing boat.

Wine tasting!

Walk amongst the vineyards of the Celler Can Sais in Vall Llobrega. It is a small, family run bodega dating back to the 17th century. The total distance is 6 kilometres and you do not need to ask for permission. At the end you can taste and purchase the wines.

Scenic greenway between Palamós and Palafrugell

Follow this 6 kilometre stretch of scenic greenway, which is ideal for both walkers and bikers. Mountain bikers will love the many opportunities to deviate into the forest which hugs the spectacular coastline here. Mountain bikes can be hired for 15 Euros per day and delivered to the house, enabling you to take full advantage of this stunning location.

Take a packed lunch

and follow the coastal pathway that skirts the rugged coastline between Palamós and Platja Castell, stopping every now and then at one of the many hidden coves to swim and snorkel.

Drive a few miles inland

and visit the many ancient stone villages that make up what is known as the 'Golden Triangle'. Stop for lunch in Peratallada and then visit the fascinating farm museum in the tiny village of Palau Sator

Visit the Tuesday morning Market at Palamós.

Select from the wonderful fresh produce displayed and prepare a delicious lunch, followed by a siesta beside the pool!

Go Dolphin spotting!

Pods of bottle nosed dolphins have been spotted feeding in the bays around Cala Estreta. You might be lucky enough to witness this amazing spectacle.

Drive up into the nearby Gavarra mountain range

and visit the ancient stone burial site 'Cova d'en Daina'. Stop for lunch at the medieval stone hamlet of Romanyà de la Selva.

'Visit the pre Roman Iberian settlement

on the headland to the left of the virgin El Castell beach. Walk among ancient stone walls and enjoy the spectacular views out to the Isles Formigues, where bottle nosed dolphins have often been spotted feeding. '

Take the children and spend a day at the Aquadiver water park in Platja d'Aro.

Afterwards go into the town and enjoy an ice cream at one of the many Italian ice cream parlours.

Experience the thrill of go karting

in Vall Llobrega.

Visit the pottery town of La Bisbal

and purchase some handmade ceramics to take back home. Friday is a good day to go as it is market day, which is colourful and lively.

Visit the spectacular Greek and Roman settlement of Empuries.

On the way back climb up to the Castle of Montgri at Torroella de Montgri and enjoy the fabulous views of the Pyrenees and the Mediterranean.

Walk amongst all kinds of exotic Mediterranean flora at the Botanical Gardens

where you get magnificent panoramic views of the coastline that stretches from Calella to the cliffs of Cap Roig.
 

Try Scuba diving

in Palamós.

Go on a Tuna fishing trip from Port Marina Palamós.

Afterwards, dine in one of the seafront restaurants and sample the famous 'prawns from the Bay of Palamós'.

Visit the old Jewish Quarter of Girona

Also worth seeing are the Arab baths, the cathedral and the museums. Indulge in some retail therapy in the many shops that this fine city has to offer!
