Location is everything for this beautiful, single storey Mallorcan town house. Set in a residential area of the famous port, the white sandy beach and pedestrianised promenade, overlooking the sweeping Bay of Pollença, are only 200m from your front door, whilst the many fine restaurants and bars of this vibrant coastal town are also within easy walking distance. Settle in for a wonderful stay at a real hidden treasure.

Nestled between two larger buildings, El Cano has a broad white washed front façade and a gated front patio where there is plenty of space to store any rented bicycles or beach toys (leaving the sand outside!). Street parking is available at the front of the house or in the surrounding area. Recently refurbished to a high standard, open plan living with a cool modern feel of tiled floors, exposed beams and bright wall art are hallmarks of the interior.

A generous L-shaped living space with its comfortable sitting and dining areas flows seamlessly into the well-equipped kitchen. Patio doors lead off the kitchen to a compact walled courtyard where you can relax in the clear waters of the private pool whilst enjoying the sunshine or savour the fruits of the barbecue under the adjacent shaded dining terrace.

Continuing the same high standards found throughout the house, each of the three bedrooms is bright, fresh and welcoming. The twin bedroom off the living area features an en suite shower room and double glazed windows to the front patio, another twin bedroom off the kitchen has an adjacent shower room and looks out to the courtyard pool whilst the double bedroom to the rear of the property has an en suite shower room and direct access onto the poolside terrace.

Step outside of the front door and you are spoilt for choice with how you wish to spend your days and evenings, in fact once you arrive you may choose not to start your hire car again until returning to the airport! Two minimarkets for everyday essentials are within 100m and it is only a few minutes’ walk to the centre of town (650m), the long seafront (150m), or pedestrianised pine walk (400m) all of which offer such an abundant selection of shops, restaurants and bars you can easily eat somewhere different every night.

Perhaps best of all, the beautiful white sand of Port de Pollença Beach with its water sports, sunbeds, parasols and excellent facilities is at the very end of the street - just 250m away!

Explore the old town of Pollença

Go out in a boat

Boat trips from the local coves and ports can make a lovely day or half day out from Port de Pollença or Port d'Alcúdia going to Formentor or round the headlands.

Fornalutx, Deià and Valldemossa

Drive over the Tramuntana mountain roads taking in the spectacular scenery, stopping at the various viewpoints including two lakes/reservoirs, and passing through several world-renowned towns like Deià and Valldemossa, home to famous painters, writers and musicians. Fornalutx is one of the prettiest towns in Mallorca.

Snorkelling at Mal Pas

If you would like to do some snorkelling in clear, deep water, go towards Alcúdia, turn off towards the La Victoria headland until you reach Mal Pas. Beside a fish restaurant serving lobster (choose your own), there is an excellent area off the rocks for snorkelling.

Walk to the top of Puig de Maria

Just past the rooster roundabout on the road from Pollença to Palma on the left, is the start of the walk up to the top of Puig de Maria. It's best to go first thing in the morning wearing sensible shoes. Don't forget your camera and a bottle of water although there is a bar at the top. The views over the north coast are outstanding.

Old Roman town of Alcúdia

Tuesday market in Old Alcúdia is interesting and has a plentiful supply of locally grown fresh fruit and vegetables, then just stroll round the pedestrianised old Roman town where caper plants are growing out of the main massive thick stone walls surrounding the town. The local council offer a free guided tour around the historical centre of Alcúdia old town on Wednesdays & Fridays during the summer months.

Play a round of golf!

Mallorca has a great variety of golf courses and the closest to Puerto Pollença is the 9-hole course at Pollença. Aucanada has an 18-hole course with beautiful views overlooking the Bay of Alcúdia.

Paella on the beach

Spend a day at the beach between Ca'n Picafort and the area east of Alcúdia, at Ses Casetes des Capellans, where you can enjoy a tasty paella or seafood dishes at one of the beach restaurants while enjoying the sea and sun on a long and sandy beach.

Visit Pollença market on Sunday morning

Pollença market on Sunday morning is a colourful bustling event where you can buy your locally grown fresh fruit and vegetables, as well as a few souvenirs and presents. Have a look inside the church which is very impressive.

Birdwatchers’ Paradise

Ornithologists will know about the birdwatching area at the Albufera and Albufereta, where you can see several different species of wading birds, amongst others, especially during the migrating season.

Formentor beach and lighthouse

A scenic drive will take you to Formentor Lighthouse - the road is quite narrow in places. At the top of the hill out of Port de Pollença, it is worth stopping at the viewpoint to see El Colomer rock. Although the beach at Formentor is not very large, it has clear shallow water ideal for children and adults alike, with some good waters for snorkelling. Go early, with a picnic.

Caves of Campanet

The beautiful Caves of Campanet, found by a shepherd about 100 years ago, are not too far away and worth a visit to see the fascinating stalagmite and stalactite formations. These caves are not too commercialised and visits are on the hour. For the most impressive caves, go to Portocristo on the east coast and visit the Caves of Drach which houses one of the largest underground lakes in Europe.

Alfàbia gardens

If you enjoy gardens, these Moorish gardens, right at the entrance to the Sóller tunnel, are a must. They are cool on a hot day, with lots of water and wonderful trees and exotic plants to admire. A small bar serves fresh orange and lemon juice.

Sóller and its port by old-fashioned train

Enjoy a ride on the old-fashioned train through the mountains and tunnels from Palma (or Bunyola) to Sóller. Don't miss the tram to the Port de Sóller through the orange groves and back. Sit in the church square in Sóller, enjoy a drink and local pastry while watching the world go by.

Mallorca in the olden days!

Visit one of the most representative manors of Mallorca's plains, Els Calderers de Sant Joan, where you will be able to imagine farming as it was 200 years ago and sample some home-made local products. Or, in the opposite direction at Esporles, is La Granja a large historical mansion with gardens, fountains, ancient trees and plants with wild and domestic animals. Also on view - a demonstration of ancient handicrafts, tools and machinery. Taste Mallorcan specialities such as jams, cheese, fig cake, sobrassada and moscatel.

Shopping and cultural visit to Palma

If you'd like to visit the capital, Palma, and are not keen on driving, then take the train from Sa Pobla. Palma is an excellent shopping centre and has many interesting historical buildings, museums and art galleries to visit.

Waterparks and Marineland

Mallorca's waterparks provide a fun day out for all the family; the nearest to Pollença, at Port d'Alcúdia, also has a mini-golf course! The others are in the south of the island at El Arenal and Magalluf. At Costa den Blanes there is Marineland which has dolphin, sea lion and parrots shows.

Taste a locally-made wine at the vineyard itself

There are several vineyards in Mallorca where you can visit and try the wine Vinyes Mortitx is on the road to Pollença-Lluc road at KM 10,9; Bodegues Macià Batle is at the entrance to Santa Maria on the main road towards Consell; and in Binissalem is the better-known Bodega José L. Ferrer. No visits during the grape harvest in September although the wine festival in Binissalem is worth joining in.

Cala San Vicente

This delightful spot has 4 sandy cove beaches where the waters are crystal clear and ideal for snorkelling. There are a good selection of beachside bars and restaurants where a cooling drink or a delightful meal of fresh fish can be enjoyed while overlooking the beach.
