Mor is a little bit of paradise for those wanting tranquillity, hillside views and a 'get away from it all' holiday home with a superb level of comfort.

Located outside the traditional Turkish village of Bezirgan, about 18km away from Kalkan centre, Mor is designed as a private retreat and offers a combination of comfort and privacy in a less touristy location. A car is essential for when you do eventually feel the need to venture away from this delightful villa. A visit to the old Port of Kalkan (18km) with its bustling shops and cafes, or a tempting trip to Kas is a great half day visit. Various swimming platforms and low-key beach clubs such as Kaputas beach, one of the most stunningly beautiful beaches in the entire region, is a 30 minute drive.

Bezirgan has a shop for basic provisions and is the perfect distance for an evening stroll. A large tantalizing pool is surrounded by comfortable loungers from which to relax and de-stress. Before lunch, revel in the privacy of your own fabulous indoor spa facilities, after which wining and dining will be a pleasure, undercover and around the generous sized outdoor barbecue area.

Mor affords guests an abundance of comfort that oozes easily from all rooms. Notably the kitchen with central island will be a pleasure to prepare meals and the two bedrooms, both en suite on the first floor, have private balconys from where you can admire the fields and steep surrounding hills.

Friday, Saturday and Sunday start days possible - please call to request. Minimum 7 night stay.

Great Things to Do Near Mor

Mountain Trekking

Trekking in the mountains behind Kas is where you will find some of the most beautiful scenery in the Taurus range.  Below the tree line and winter snow are the yayla (highland plateaus).  Trek through canyons, gorges and passes - many of these gorges were important trade routes, some still in use, some completely forgotten, though all at one time jealously guarded.

For the biggest market on the Lycian coast,

take the journey up to Fethiye and experience an authentic Turkish market.  Produce is brought from all over the region - vegetables, spices and, of course, the 'genuine fake' designer goods.  In the centre of Fethiye is the fish market, where fresh fish can be chosen from the stalls and cooked at one of the restaurants in the surrounding square - a great place for lunch.  Tuesday is the main market day for Fethiye.

A 'must see' is the ancient site of Xanthos

It was one of the six principal cities of Lycia and it is one of the most remarkable archaeological sites in Turkey and has been registered in the UNESCO World Heritage Sites list. Of note are the pillar tombs (unique to Lycia) and the Harpy column tomb with frieze.  The 'Harpy Tomb' is so called as it was believed that the winged women figures in the frieze were harpies - monsters from Greek mythology with the head of a woman and the body of a bird.

Visit the Lycian sites

at Myra, where you will be able to explore the spectacular Lycian, Greek and Roman ruins of this ancient city, including one of the best preserved amphitheatres and spectacular rock tombs. Entrance to St Nicholas Church is available, but as an optional extra.

Ride horses through the sand dunes of Patara

There are stables within the Patara National Park that cater for riders and non-riders of all ages and ability.  Due to the strict conservation laws there is not a building to be seen, which is what makes this beach so special - endless golden sands, surrounded by nature, so it's perfect for an early morning ride enjoying the beautiful scenery!

Stepping down to Katputas Beach

In an unspoilt, idyllic setting, Kaputas Beach, much smaller than Patara, is only accessed  by 192 steps down - so make  sure you can manage the climb back up at the end of the day!

Explore the Saklikent Gorge

It's the second-largest (20 km long) gorge in Europe, with spectacular scenery and 4 kms of the gorge is walkable.  Outside the gorge, restaurants have wooden platforms suspended just above rushing spring waters - great places to relax on Turkish rugs and cushions with a beer.  You have to cross the water - beware, it's knee deep and fast flowing.  Wear swim shoes - these can be hired if you don't have any.

Visit the nearby town of Kas

and enjoy the laid back charm of Kas as an alternative to the busier atmosphere of Kalkan.  This small fishing village at the foot of the Taurus mountains retains an unhurried ambience.
