We are delighted to introduce this attractive, newly constructed stone villa to our Greek portfolio.

Nestled in the tranquil hillside just above Sami, Amantia has been lovingly crafted by its owner over several years, combining traditional character with contemporary comfort. Offering views across the olive plains and Ionian Sea towards the neighbouring island of Ithaca, this individual property is perfect for a relaxing island escape.

Amantia showcases beautiful natural stonework giving the property a distinctive sense of authenticity. Inside, exposed wooden ceilings and traditional masonry lend a rustic warmth, while the open plan kitchen, dining and living area provides a sociable space to unwind. Large doors from the living area lead onto the terrace, framing the views of the rolling wooded countryside and glittering sea in the distance.

Outside, the generous terrace is made for long, sun-filled days. Your private swimming pool is bordered by stone walls that echo the villa’s traditional architecture, while a covered dining area and a separate pergola-shaded space are the ideal spots for leisurely alfresco meals. Despite its secluded feel, the property is conveniently located close to coastal town of Sami (5.5km), where visitors will find a choice of amenities, waterfront tavernas and a picturesque harbour.

Amantia makes an excellent base for discovering Kefalonia’s natural and cultural highlights. The spectacular Drogarati Cave (2km) is just a four-minute drive away, while the extraordinary underground lake at Melissani Cave (5.8m) is around 12 minutes from the villa. Other nearby attractions include Karavomilos Lake (5.5km), beautiful Antisamos Beach (9.5km) and the historic remains of Old Vlachata. The Nautical Museum of Sami (3.6km), approximately six minutes away by car, offers an insight into the island’s maritime heritage, while Agrilion Monastery is well worth a visit. Poulata (1.7km) is a small hillside village, known for traditional, family-run grill tavernas featuring locally reared meats and farm-to-table ingredients, is just a couple of minutes drive away.

Great Things to Do Near Amantia

Take a boat ride across Melissani Lake

Just 6km from the villa, this fascinating lake and cave is one of the most beautiful sites in Kefalonia. When the sunlight enters through the cave's roof the colour of the water is deep blue and as the sun rises becomes bright turquoise. You can even see the bottom which is 30m deep. You cannot swim in the lake but you are taken across it on a boat.

Visit Sami's Nautical Museum

The biggest and most historical port in Kefalonia, this museum was opened in 2019 to show Sami's rich naval tradition. There are exhibits of all types of traditional Greek shipbuilding and vessels, and even a 4 metre replica of the Titanic.

Visit the famous Drogarati Cave

Just a few kilometres from the villa and open only since 1963, this cave is accessed by climbing down 60m of steps, the cave itself is 65m x 45m and keeps very cool even in the hottest months. It is full of stalactites and stalagmites of different colours and is said to have been formed over 100 millions years ago!

Experience the adventurous journey of Odysseus

Visit the Odysseus Theme Park based on Homer's unique epic, The Odyssey. Meet the monstrous Cyclops Polyphemus, see up close the sorceress Circe, the enchanted Sirens and the sea monsters Scylla and Charybdis.

Take a boat trip to Ithaca

From local harbours there are various companies offering day trips to the mystical island of Ithaca just across the water. Excursions often stop off at beaches only accessible by boat and the island's capital Vathy.

Head to Fiscardo in the north of the island

Fiscardo has something for everyone - Roman ruins, a pretty harbour, great tavernas, excellent boutiques and delightful bays for an afternoon swim.

Hike up to the Monastery of Themata

Located on the slopes of the Agia Dinati mountain, this is one of the oldest sites in Kefalonia. The hiking path is surrounded by pine forest and offers amazing views across the sea and towards Ithaca.

Antisamos - What a beach!

A great beach, less than 10k away, used as a backdrop for much of the Captain Corelli movie. A sweeping white pebbly bay, great for snorkeling. Chilled out beach bars on hand to offer bar service to your sun lounger!

Snorkelling

The Ionian Sea is one of the cleanest in Europe so get your snorkel and fins ready and head down to the coast.

Visit the local winery

Robola is a white wine grape variety which is primarily grown on Kefalonia. Learn about the winemaking process by visiting the vineyards and wineries as part of a small group or a private tour. Tastings included.

Turtle rescue fund

The Kefalonia locals are extremely proud of the fact that the 'caretta caretta' turtles continue to use the lovely beaches in the south of the island to nest their eggs. As one would hope and expect, these beaches are protected and supervised to ensure that the eggs are not disturbed by the invasion of sun umbrellas and beach barbecues. One of these unspoilt beaches is Mounda Beach.
