Great Things to Do Near Belvédère

Drive to nearby Begur and climb up to the castle

from where there are far reaching views. The most noteworthy are those towards the Medes Islands, long ago a refuge for pirates and smugglers, although today they are famous as a marine nature reserve.

Walk amongst all kinds of exotic Mediterranean flora at the Cap Riog Botanical Gardens

in Calella de Palafrugell, where you get magnificent panoramic views of the coastline that stretches from Calella to the cliffs of Cap Roig.

The golden sandy beach at Aigua Blava

is a very short drive away. Justifiably awarded a coveted Blue Flag, this beach boasts the finest and softest sand in the immediate area. Enjoy a meal overlooking the bay and enjoy the freshest of grilled fish, accompanied by a glass of chilled white wine.

The protected Marine Reserve of Ses Negres is very close by

between the bays of Aigua Freda and Sa Riera. From the coastal path there are some ideal spots for fantastic snorkelling.

Wander around the cobbled back streets of Palamós

and visit the numerous “Tapas” bars. Or perhaps take a guided tour on foot and by sea following the footsteps of the Turkish Pirate “Barbarosa” who ransacked the town of Palamós in 1543.

Drive a few miles inland

and visit the many ancient stone villages known as the 'Golden Triangle'. Stop for lunch in Peratallada and then visit the fascinating farm museum in the tiny village of Palau Sator.

Diving courses and excursions

can be booked at Aigua Blava, on the road leading down towards the beach.

Explore Begur in the evening...

Enjoy dinner in one of the many fine restaurants in the old quarter and stroll around the many stalls selling jewellery and handicrafts. Sit amongst the locals with a digestif and enjoy the atmosphere.

Go karting!

There is an excellent track at nearby Regenços.

The Medes Islands

These Islands and their marine life, just a mile off the coast, are in a protected Marine Natural park and are one of the most important in the whole of the Mediterranean. Divers come here from all over the world, as they are considered to be such an important site.
