A cottage with just one bedroom and its own private pool is a rare find, and here amidst the scenic countryside of the Costa de la Luz, just a 10-minute drive from the picturesque hilltop town of Vejer de la Frontera, we discovered this delightful rural retreat.

Off the meandering lane that winds its way through fields and meadows beyond the dazzling white houses and atmospheric squares of Vejer de la Frontera, and almost imperceptible from the road, a smart wooden gate leads the way into this charming home. Sloping gently uphill past shady trees and flowering shrubs, a driveway passes by the owner’s own house and continues onwards to Casa Bellota which sits sedately amidst its own neat and carefully tended grounds.

To its rear is the plunge pool, pleasingly secluded and encircled by a natural backdrop of wooded slopes and wildflowers. On the other side, a shaded dining terrace is perfectly positioned to enjoy far-reaching rural views to the east, an outlook that is particularly enchanting in the morning as the sun rises from behind the distant hills.

Inside, the attractive interior is light and welcoming thanks to a stylish colour scheme of neutral shades. Of open plan design, the living area flows easily through to the outdoor terrace via French doors whilst ceiling fans in both this room and the bedroom will be appreciated during the summer months.

With its wonderfully natural backdrop of tree covered slopes and scenic views to the east across the surrounding countryside, this is an ideal choice for those seeking a restful escape and yet at the same time the location of Casa Bellota will also delight those wishing to be within easy reach of the fine dining options and charming local shops that line the atmospheric streets and pretty squares of Vejer de la Frontera. This is just a 10-minute drive from the house whilst only a short distance further are the golden sands of the coastal towns of El Palmar, Zahora and Barbate.

  • *The double bed can be prepared as twin singles if preferred. Please advise at time of booking.
