What an idyllic setting! With tree-covered slopes encircling us on all sides with their lush canopy of multi-shades of green, and an inviting garden of thoughtfully furnished terraces from which to soak up the view, we could not imagine a more picturesque location for a holiday in this most scenic of Andalucía’s natural parks.

It was not just Casa Benamahoma’s absorbing vistas that captured our attention though. So too did the village itself, which sits amidst the undulating hills like a picture postcard of white painted houses, flower-filled patios and a delightful selection of atmospheric shops and restaurants. As we slipped the latch of the garden gate and wandered uphill along one of the village’s cobbled streets, we were delighted to discover that in just a few minutes we were in the heart of the village, watching the locals as they met in the square for friendly chatter, and already being tempted by the menu boards of typical restaurants. It came as no surprise to learn that this it is one of the region’s must-see ‘pueblos blancos’.

Having wandered along Benamahoma’s pretty streets we found ourselves back at the house, once again admiring the views from the pool and a bougainvillea-strewn patio that is perfectly placed for al fresco dining. As we headed inside, we were struck by how welcoming and well presented the interior was, its attractive décor and thoughtfully equipped rooms clearly reflecting the owners' care and pride of their much-loved retreat.

Being in the Natural Park of Grazalema, Benamahoma is an ideal base for exploring the picturesque rolling countryside and pretty villages of this stunning natural landscape. Just 5km away is the equally charming village of El Bosque; a 30 minute drive reveals the historic hilltop town of Arcos de la Frontera, and all around, footpaths lead walkers through the beautiful scenery.
