Beyond the local market town of Orgiva, a lush patchwork of olive groves and fruit orchards carpets the valleys and riverbanks of The Alpujarras to create the most picturesque of settings for this charming country cottage.

Nestling off a country lane only 1.2km from the shops and restaurants of the town, the foliage-strewn façade of Casa Benisalte looks south across an enticing swimming pool, colourful flowerbeds of Mediterranean flora, a smartly kept lawn and an in-built barbecue area. All of this nestles snugly within the property’s own private orchard, offering views across the tops of the silvery-grey leaves of abundant olive trees: to the north the impressive peaks of the Sierra Nevada rise imposingly whilst in the other direction it is the softer, more rounded summits of the Sierra de Lújar that form the stunning backdrop.

Inside, a typically Alpujarran décor of terracotta floors and beamed ceilings combines with crisp white walls and a spacious layout to create a home that is both light and characterful. Open-plan in style, the living area flows conveniently through to a covered terrace, an ideal spot for enjoying dinners al fresco whilst soaking up the restful surroundings.

Being just 750m from the nearest restaurant and 1.2km from the bustling amenities and weekly produce market in the town itself, this is an ideal retreat for those looking for beautiful rural surroundings as well as proximity to amenities. Also of great appeal is the ability to easily reach both beach life and city culture: drive 35 minutes south through stunning mountain scenery to reach the beaches of the Costa Tropical or head north for just 55 minutes to see the stunning Moorish architecture of historic Granada.
