Exceptional spacious modern villa appointed to a high specification, Lavanta Evi is located on the outskirts of the village of Islamlar at the foot of the Taurus mountains, a short drive from the stylish resort of Kalkan. Through picture-frame windows and sliding doors are unforgettable and spectacular mountain views to the side and over the Patara plains towards the Turquoise Coast beyond. As the evening breeze cools and the sun gently sets, enjoy sitting on your terrace and watching the stars above, looking down on the lights below. On clear days it is even possible to see Rhodes in the distance.

Situated within an exclusive enclave of four contemporary detached villas designed by a prominent Turkish architect, Lavanta Evi is stylish, spacious, full of natural light and will appeal to the most discerning tastes.

A large infinity pool offers magnificent views towards Patara beach and the surrounding hills. An elegant, covered terrace with comfortable seating leads out to the pool side, alongside well-tended gardens. A dining area with barbecue and sunbathing loungers is the perfect spot to sit and watch the sun set. With spacious living accommodation, this beautiful villa has a modern sophisticated appeal and is furnished to a high standard throughout. Offering stylish furnishings and a contemporary décor, Lavanta Evi has been thoughtfully combined to create a delightful living space with a fully equipped open plan kitchen and lounge area. All bedrooms are air-conditioned and en suite: two are on the ground floor and two on the second floor which is also the main entrance level.

The local shop in Uzumlu (1km) on the way down to Kalkan is run by a friendly couple who are very welcoming and have basic provisions. As well as countless restaurants in Kalkan to suit all tastes, there are several near the villa in Islamlar (2-3km) where food is good value. Sometimes, with prior notice, restaurants will collect you from the villa and drop you back again at the end of an evening. Unspoiled by mass tourism, Islamlar has remained mainly residential with a genuine Turkish community life and atmosphere. Patara beach (17km) is a huge swathe of sandy beach, perfect for lazing the days away, whilst the pretty harbourside of Kalkan (9km) can be reached by car in ten to fifteen minutes. Enjoy its wonderful restaurants, beach clubs and shopping opportunities, then head back to the tranquillity of Lavanta Evi for the best of both worlds!

Great Things to Do Near Lavanta Evi

For the biggest market on the Lycian coast

take the journey up to Fethiye and experience an authentic Turkish market. Produce is brought from all over the region - vegetables, spices and, of course, the 'genuine fake' designer goods. In the centre of Fethiye is the fish market, where fresh fish can be chosen from the stalls and cooked at one of the restaurants in the surrounding square - a great place for lunch. Tuesday is the main market day for Fethiye.

Cross over to Greece

Take the opportunity to visit the closest Greek island to Turkey, Kastolorizo, just 3.5 nautical miles off the coast of Kaş. After a short but scenic crossing explore the delights of this quaint Greek fishing village, including the local museum, church and mosque. Wander round the white washed back streets before enjoying a lunch on the harbour front. Don't forget your passport!

Visit the nearby town of Kaş

Less than an hour's drive away, enjoy the laid back charm of Kaş as an alternative to the busier atmosphere of Kalkan. This small fishing village at the foot of the Taurus mountains retains an unhurried ambience.

Mountain Trekking

Trekking in the Taurus mountain range you will find some of the most beautiful scenery. Below the tree line and winter snow are the yayla (highland plateaus). Trek through canyons, gorges and passes - many of these gorges were important trade routes, some still in use, some completely forgotten, though all at one time jealously guarded.

Ride horses through the sand dunes of Patara

There are stables within the Patara National Park that cater for riders and non-riders of all ages and ability. Due to the strict conservation laws there is not a building to be seen, which is what makes this beach so special - endless golden sands, surrounded by nature, so it's perfect for an early morning ride enjoying the beautiful scenery!

A 'must see' is the ancient site of Xanthos

It was one of the six principal cities of Lycia and it is one of the most remarkable archaeological sites in Turkey and has been registered in the UNESCO World Heritage Sites list. Of note are the pillar tombs (unique to Lycia) and the Harpy column tomb with frieze. The 'Harpy Tomb' is so called as it was believed that the winged women figures in the frieze were harpies - monsters from Greek mythology with the head of a woman and the body of a bird.

Explore the back streets of Kalkan

Wonderful atmospheric narrow streets that house a mixture of shops, coffee bars, restaurants with traditional overhanging wooden balconies above and enjoy wandering around.

Sticky delights

Try one of the rich, gooey Turkish pastries, rich in honey, raisins, nuts and cinnamon and layered in Filo pastry - along with a Turkish coffee to clear the palate. Kalkan's harbour front is the best place to enjoy this indulgence!

Stepping down to Kaputas Beach

In an unspoilt, idyllic setting, Kaputas Beach, much smaller than Patara, is only accessed by 192 steps down - so make sure you can manage the climb back up at the end of the day!

Canoeing on the Xanthos river

Enjoy a fun day river canoeing on the Xanthos river.  You can travel across ancient Lycian lands of lush and tranquil nature.  The ride is downstream, so it's not hard going.  The journey ends at Patara beach with time for a swim.

Enjoy fresh trout in the famous Islamlar restaurants

Islamlar is famous for its traditional trout fishing industry so make sure you sample the local produce right on your doorstep!
