About Porto Colom (Cala d'Or)

The Town

Porto Colom’s old fishing houses over a century old form the basis of the old village which is grown into the town we see today, whilst retaining its picturesque appeal. The town hosts a number of good restaurants, and beyond the harbour are a couple of small sandy bays and a beach bar.

Activities

Visit nearby Portocristo to see the interesting marina where you can take a boat trip up and down the coast. The beach here is small but sandy. A little further north are the Coves del Drach where you can see a light and sound show on Lake Martel, one of the largest underground lakes in the world. Nearby in Vall d’Or, Felanitx, you’ll find an 18-hole golf course if you feel so inclined. Felanitx itself hosts a Sunday morning market selling a wide range of produce from local ceramics to vegetables.

Beaches

Cala Sa Nau beach is a rural cove with a tiny beach bar, park your car at the end of the lane and walk through to the beach. A little further south is the beach at Cala Mondrago which has a hotel adjacent to it and a beach bar and as a sheltered cove is ideal for swimming. A little further south again lies Cala Llombards, another lovely cove beach with a simple beach bar.
