Within a 15 minute drive are the unspoilt coves of Cala Santanyi, and Cala Llombards and Cala S’Almonia. At Cala Mondrago, just around 25 minutes away, the beach is situated within a national park and has a picnic area and children’s adventure playground along with facilities. Around the same distance away, south of Campos, is the beach of Es Trenc on the southern coast of Majorca. Es Trenc is part of the Natural Area of Special Interest Es Trenc-Salobrar de Campos. The beach is around 2km of golden sand and crystal-clear water and is often referred to as Mallorca’s answer to the Caribbean. Sunbeds and parasols are available to hire, lifeguards are on duty and toilets and restaurants are available.
The picturesque town of Santanyi hosts a colourful market on Wednesday and Saturday mornings where you can buy a selection of local produce from fresh fruit to clothes. The town also has banks, a chemist, supermarkets and restaurants and bars. Portopetro on the east coast is within easy reach and has a typical harbour and seafood restaurants along the quayside.
Within around a 25-minute drive is the town of Felanitx, the market centre of the S.E. of Mallorca. The market is held on Sunday mornings and is centred around the old church, selling an assortment of goods from fresh vegetable produce to ceramics. Near the church is a pottery shop selling hand painted items associated with the island. Further afield at approx. 40 minutes’ drive northwards is the town of Manacor where you can tour the artificial pearl factories, visit shops selling ceramics and unusual olive wood artefacts, the bustling market here is on Monday morning.
