Water sports
Particularly famous for windsurfing and sailing, Vasiliki is the place to visit to partake in a wide range of water-orientated activities. Mornings are a perfect time for sailing or for anyone wishing to learn how to windsurf as the surrounding mountains create sheltered, ideal conditions for such activities. With so many facilities available (wind/kite surfing, wake/paddle boarding, scuba diving, kayaks, boat hire and boat trips to other parts of the island can all be arranged locally) there is plenty to keep children and adults alike entertained.
Eating out
Vasiliki harbour, the small old quarter and sweeping bayside is lined with an array of tavernas, cafes and bars catering to all tastes and budgets. Menus feature international dishes alongside traditional Greek delicacies such as moussaka, stifado and souvlaki, not forgetting a wide choice of fresh seafood.
Island hopping
Vasiliki has a small active port from where boat trips and ferries depart to local beaches, seaside towns and, on occasion, neighbouring islands. Why not take a day out to explore the cosmopolitan village of Fiscardo on Kefalonia or visit the quaint island of Ithaca to meander through the traditional villages or maybe enjoy lunch around the gorgeous natural harbour of Vathy?
Beaches
Many little beaches are easily accessible along the coastline from Vasiliki including the famous Agiofili Beach. Backed by white stone cliffs and home to what many consider to be the clearest waters and softest sands in Lefkada, this beautiful spot can be accessed via coastal paths and tracks or by local boat. Gorgeous Porto Katsiki Beach is also well served by boat and Vasiliki harbour is the only place from where you can take a boat to the equally stunning Egremni Beach. Particularly pretty at sunset, the dazzlingly white sands and limpid waters of Egremni combine to create an almost exotic setting.
