Set within the hamlet of Polemarchi, Mystique Villa is a beautifully appointed retreat just minutes from the charming village of Tavronitis and the quieter beaches of Crete’s north coast.

With a spacious, contemporary design combined with elegant furnishings throughout, this is a wonderful base for larger groups or even two families holidaying together. The villa’s elevated position and split-level layout afford panoramic views towards the Aegean, the local hills and the green olive groves below.

A sweeping driveway leads up to the lower level where there is ample parking and a garage (table tennis, extra dining). Guests can access the ground floor living accommodation via (x 17) external steps or interior stairs from the basement level. The front door opens into the expansive yet welcoming living area decorated with light neutral colours, exposed stone walls and velvet sofas, a dining area with two separate tables and a well-equipped kitchen for budding chefs.

Four stylish bedrooms are set across the ground and first floors, each with access to a balcony overlooking the surrounding countryside. The principal bedroom is particularly generous, with high wooden beamed ceilings and modern furnishings, while a separate chill-out terrace offers the perfect spot for sunrise views or a quiet escape.

Outside, substantial terraces invite effortless outdoor living, from shaded dining with enviable sea views to languid poolside lounging. Surrounded by lawns, exotic palms and landscaped gardens, the private pool provides an idyllic setting for long, sun-filled days.

Mystique is just a 5-minute drive from Tavronitis, a welcoming village with traditional tavernas, shops and all amenities. It is known for its rural charm, natural beauty, and proximity to both the sea and the mountains. Restaurants offer freshly prepared dishes, such as moussaka, souvlaki, and grilled fish, along with homemade raki and locally produced wines. Closer still, guests can walk downhill to a village taverna (typically open May - October only), just 600m away, to enjoy coffee and mezze dishes.

As well as the beach at Tavronitis, guests are only a short drive from Agia Marina, Maleme and Platanias where you will find a wider choice of restaurants, amenities, boat trips and water sports. We also recommend you visit the beautiful Venetian port of Chania old town famous for its atmospheric harbour and cobbled streets.

Great Things to Do Near Mystique Villa

Ask for Dakos

A Cretan speciality served in most tavernas as a starter. Dried crusts soaked in tomatoes and topped with crumbled feta cheese and oregano – delicious!

Stretch the legs and explore the ancient site of Aptera

Here you can visit the remains of a very important city dating back to the 5th Century BC.

Try the Cretan hooch!

Raki or Tsikoudia is distilled from the stalks and skins of grapes left over from wine pressing. It is drunk widely and you are likely to be offered a thimble-full glass of raki wherever you go. It can contain anything between 35-65% alcohol – you have been warned!

Chania harbour

Chania is one of the nicest towns of Crete with wonderful houses, parks and squares. The old city has preserved the charm of the Venetian and Turkish periods. On Leather Lane near the harbour, you can find all kinds of leather goods and a really interesting indoor covered market.  Restaurants and tavernas surround the harbour and boats leave from here for 2-3 hour trips, you can also catch a horse and buggy.

Wine tasting at the Manousakis Winery Vatolakos

The perfect soil, sun, and weather conditions of Crete were the driving forces behind the first vineyards in the foothills above Vatolakkos.

Watersports

All sorts of watersports are available in this part of Crete including scuba diving, wind surfing, water skiing, kayaking, jet skiing, rib inflatable trips and hire, surfing and fishing trips.

Visit the main indoor market in Chania

This vast agora (market) is a bustling noisy and colourful place, where the abundance of fruit, vegetables, fresh fish, meat and everything edible is spread out over four sections fashioned like a cross. It is based on the famous marketplace of Marseille. There are plenty of bargains to be had and its great for barbecues!

Ancient Olive tree of Vouves

Probably one of the oldest olive trees in the world. It still produces olives. Also has a small cafe and museum next to it
