At the sun-washed edge of Acharavi, where the Ionian Sea draws a bright line between sky and shore, Rose Villa rests in easy harmony with its surroundings, a gracious island house designed for unhurried days and social evenings.

The approach is along a lane, until the gates open to reveal a broad sweep of lawn, generous and green beneath the Corfiot sun. This expanse of garden is the true foreground to the house, allowing for ample children’s games to be made, creating holiday memories, morning stretches beneath a blue sky, or long lunches taken at a shaded table, while the cicadas provide their steady accompaniment. The sense of space is immediate and deeply reassuring.

Within the expansive grounds lies your private swimming pool, bright and inviting from the earliest hours of the day. Here, you can dip into cool water before breakfast, or float languidly during the afternoon. Sun loungers are arranged along the terrace, perfectly placed for reading, dozing, or simply contemplating the mountains that rise in soft blue folds beyond the village. The pool terrace forms a natural gathering place, linking house and garden.

The house itself is arranged with thoughtful simplicity. Steps from the parking area lead up to the ground floor. The living space is comfortably arranged for evenings of conversation or quiet repose, while the dining table stands ready for leisurely meals gathered from the market or nearby tavernas. Multiple sets of doors open out to the terrace and pool, allowing light and sea air to move freely through the interior. A well-appointed kitchen and family bathroom complete the ground level.

The bedrooms are all on the first floor, each enjoying views across the garden or towards the distant hills. They share a bathroom on this same floor.

The beach is a short and gentle stroll away (110m), where the Ionian waters shimmer invitingly. Equally close at hand are several traditional tavernas (100m), their tables set beneath vine leaves and lantern light.

In Rose Villa, the days unfold with a pleasing naturalness, garden to sea, sea to table, table to terrace. It is a house that invites you to relax and enjoy your surroundings, to look up and enjoy the mountains rising in the distance, and to surrender, if only for a while, to the enduring, sunlit spell of Corfu.

Great Things to Do Near Rose Villa

Corfu Town by Boat

Why not travel to Corfu Town either day or evening by boat and take the scenic sail down to the capital, seeing the North East Coast on the way there and back. Book this at a local travel office. Book early as it is a very popular way to get into the islands capital.

Explore the north-east coast by boat

Hire a boat for the day to explore the beautiful north-east coast, probably the prettiest coastline here on the island. You can stop off in any number of little coves that can only be discovered by sea, go for a swim or try some snorkelling, before heading to one of the bays (Agni, Kalami or San Stefanos) for a spot of lunch.

St Spiridon Lake's ornithological nature reserve

A lake and wetland reserve, of great interest to bird watchers in particular, but also to nature lovers in general and to walkers. It is the temporary or permanent habitat of more than 100 bird species, as well as many rare and beautiful plants. You will find this interesting lagoon and the beautiful beach and discreet coves nearby a short distance down from the main road linking Kassiopi with Acharavi.

A fun day out at Aqualand

Corfu Aqualand, near to the village of Agios Ioannis, is one of the largest water parks in Europe and features 51 slides, several pools, a lazy river and a wide variety of other water attractions. There’s something for all ages here and it is a great way to keep the whole family entertained.

Visit Paleokastritsa (probably easier to get to than to say it!!)

Pa-le-o-ka-str-it-sa (pronunciation: just let it roll off the tongue!) is set around three main bays. It is famous for being Corfu's most treasured beauty spot; beware it can become busy in high season. Luxury yachts sail in to admire the back drop of the beautiful green hills around Paleokastritsa. The best way - for the views, is to go via the Troumpetas pass. Look on your map for Skipero (which is on the main Sidari road). The pass is just above.

Snorkelling

Head to Kerasia beach where the water is sublimely clear and protective rocks create a perfect bay ideal for snorkelling.

The Big Red Bus

Drive down to Corfu Town and pick up the Big Red Bus from the port. This relatively new service is an open-topped, 'Hop On / Hop Off' bus that takes you on a guided tour all around Corfu Town and the outlying areas. It's a great way to see and hear about the town's history and highlights.

Explore Corfu Town

See the palaces and Venetian fortresses and explore the old town that is home to the Greek Royal family during their annual vacation. Prince Philip was born here, in Mon Repos palace.

Visit Pontikinissi (Mouse Island)

What a lovely way to spend a half day, take a trip out to the Kanoni peninsula and enjoy a coffee on the waterfront café there, next to the Vlahernon monastery, which is also an island, but has been connected to the Kanoni peninsula by a small causeway. It's from this small causeway that you take the regular boat crossing over to Pontikinissi about a 5 minute boat trip away. Don’t forget your swimming gear, as you can easily have a lovely swim here.

A Drive to Perithea

Drive up to the once deserted village of Perithea, and explore the natural beauty of the area. Stop off at one of the cafes or tavernas set up in the mountain village and see what life was like many years ago on the island.

Visit the Durrells' home

Visit the White House in Kalami, home to the Durrell family back in the 1930's, whilst Lawrence wrote his novel 'Prospero's Cell' and where Gerald wrote 'My Family and Other Animals', both a must read when holidaying in Corfu.

Play a round of golf

You'll find the island's 18-hole golf course close to Ermones on the Ropa Valley (west of Corfu Town). This excellent course (one of only half a dozen in all of Greece!) was created by the British during their time of occupation.

Sunset at Peroulades

Take a late afternoon drive towards Sidari and you will come to Peroulades, a small village set way up high on the cliff tops overlooking Loggas Beach. Here you will find the well-known Cafe Bar called 7th Heaven, perched right on the cliff edge. The bar's terrace extends onto a glass platform where you can gaze straight down to the sea and the cliff face beneath your feet - if you dare! Then finish off the evening with a cooling drink watching the sunset over the Ionian Sea.
