A 10 minute walk from the soft sands of Ammoudi beach, Sol is a villa made for slowing down. From its position on Zakynthos’ untamed northeastern shore, the view from the house encompasses silvery olive groves, a scatter of cypress trees, and the distant blue of the Ionian Sea. This peaceful idyll feels a world away from the hubbub of busier resorts, yet everything you need is within walking distance.

Ammoudi itself has an easy, authentic Greek atmosphere: a handful of family-run tavernas and beachside restaurants set out tables overlooking the water, serving platters of just-caught fish, paired with a glass of Verdea, the island’s distinctive white wine. The small supermarket makes daily rituals easy, with bread, local honey, and cheeses to take back to the villa. And when the mood calls for a change of pace, the seaside villages of Alykanas (3.5km) and Alykes (4.5km) are only a short drive away.
Inspired by warm Mediterranean tones, Sol’s exterior carries a hint of Moroccan charm. Terracotta-pink walls and large arches frame the pool terrace and give the feel of a chic boutique hotel. Inside, there’s an understated elegance: cool stone floors underfoot, wicker chairs and smooth wood, softened by natural linen.

The ground floor flows through an airy, open-plan living space with fully-fitted kitchen, and floor-to-ceiling glass doors that open directly to the pool and built-in barbecue. Mornings here begin with the sound of cicadas and the scent of salt on the breeze. A bedroom with its own shower room and terrace access makes slipping into the water for an early (or late-night) swim effortless. Upstairs, two further bedrooms each have an en suite and share a balcony that boasts sea views. Sol belongs to a trio of villas, ideal for families or friends travelling together but seeking their own space.

Beyond Ammoudi, the island unfolds in layers: forested hills once walked by Artemis, rugged cliffs plunging into turquoise water, and timeless villages where bougainvillea spills over whitewashed walls. You’ll spend your days here swimming, eating, sleeping well, and planning how soon you can return.

  • Being located next door to Luna and Gaia means Sol could be a good choice for an extended family or a group of friends who can be near to each other whilst retaining their own individual space and privacy.

Great Things to Do Near Sol

Discover Navagio Shipwreck

A trip to Zakynthos is not complete without a trip to see the iconic Navagio Shipwreck and beach. Only accessible by sea (or from the viewing platform above), dramatic white cliffs and glistening waters make this one of the most stunning locations on the island. Unfortunately, you cannot access the beach but renting a boat will get you as close as possible to see this wonderful sight.

Learn about Turtle Conservation

Zakynthos is renowned for the famous Loggerhead Caretta Caretta turtles and the Turtle Conservation Centre in Gerakas is the perfect place to learn about all things turtle! Learn about the conservation efforts the island has to protect this special species and you may even be lucky to see a turtle being taken care of before being released back into the sea.

Take a splash at the waterpark

Ideal for those with children (or those who are children at heart), Water Village is great for a fun day out. Home to a number of water slides for all ages, children's play area and a lazy river, Water Village is fun for all the family.

Visit the Blue Caves

Together with Navagio Shipwreck, visiting the Blue Caves on the north coast of Zakynthos is the perfect day out. Larger boats cannot gain access to the caves so renting a small boat will give you access to these stunning formations- a sight to behold.

Banana Beach

Perfect for all ages, Banana Beach has it all. This long stretch of sandy beach is ideal for those looking to relax and enjoy a cooling dip in the azure sea. For the more adventurous, a number of watersports are also available to participate in.

Wine tasting

Zakynthos is home to multiple wineries offering different tastes to please everyone. Take a tour of the winery, learn about the different types of wine produced on the island and even take home a bottle or two to enjoy!

Visit Zante Town

A trip to Zante Town is not to be missed. Wander the charming streets filled with coffee shops and shops whilst soaking up Venetian architecture. The town offers a laidback atmosphere mixed with culture with plenty of tavernas to choose from to experience the local cuisine.

Panoramic views at Porto Limnoimas

A hidden cove accessed by narrow winding streets, unbeatable views await at Porto Limnoimas. Take a dip in the sparkling sea and once cooled down, head to the taverna perched above the cove for local, fresh food with one of the best views on the island.

Keri and Marathonisi Island

A trip to Keri is a must-do on any trip to Zakynthos. Take a boat out to the idyllic Keri Caves to explore and visit Marathonisi Island, also known as Turtle Island. The island really is shaped like a turtle and you may be lucky to see some famous Loggerhead turtles swimming near the island.
