Great Things to Do Near Bosc Petit
Drive a few miles inland
and visit the many ancient stone villages that make up what is known as the “Golden Triangle”. Stop for lunch in Peratallada and enjoy a meal in the confines of a peaceful walled courtyard. After lunch visit the fascinating rural museum in the tiny village of Palau Sator.
Visit the spectacular Greek and Roman settlement of Empuries
and later enjoy a lunch of fresh anchovies in L'Escala, as they are a local speciality. On the way back climb up to the Castle of Montgri (Torroella de Montgri) and take in the spectacular views of both the Pyrenees and the Mediterranean.
Take a stroll beneath the arched ‘Voltes’
situated along the front of Port bo beach in Calella de Palafrugell. Enjoy a drink or evening meal at one of the seafront restaurants and watch the twinkling lights of the fishing boats out in the bay and the spectacle of the brightly lit cruise ships gliding silently across the horizon.
Take the ‘Cami de Ronda’ footpath
that leads from Tamariu to Llafranc along the coast and over the headland to neighbouring Calella de Palafrugell. It is well signed and will even give you an idea of how long it takes to walk it! If you don’t want to walk back, catch the little tourist bus which will take you up to the lighthouse from where you will enjoy breath taking views down the coast.
Visit the Sunday morning Market at Palafrugell
and soak up the atmosphere with a drink or an ice cream in the main square. Later visit the Cork Museum to learn about the importance of the cork industry in the town’s past.
Take a stroll down from the house
to the unspoilt fishing village of Tamariu and enjoy an evening meal in one of the fine seafront fish restaurants. Evening is a truly Mediterranean experience! As dusk falls local artisans set up stalls and perhaps a local artist will set up their pitch. Waiters start serving platters of grilled fish, while the Mediterranean laps gently on the shoreline.
Visit the Museum dedicated to fishing at Palamós
then watch the fishing fleet come in at 5pm when the fish auction commences. Why not round off the evening with a night cruise under the stars on a traditional Latin rigged Catalan fishing boat.
Drive to the centre of Begur and climb up to the castle
from where there are far reaching views. The most noteworthy are those towards the Medes Islands, long ago a refuge for pirates and smugglers, although today they are famous as a marine nature reserve.
Drive over to Llafranc’s seafront...
and meander along the promenade to the marina to gaze at the boats. Before heading back, stop and enjoy a leisurely drink whilst engaging in a spot of people watching.
As you wander around Begur take special note of the houses of the 'Indianos',
the design of which has been influenced by the young people of Begur who emigrated to the Americas, mainly in search of riches. Those who returned left their stamp on the architecture of the town - one such example overlooks the small car park area near the church.
Walk amongst all kinds of exotic Mediterranean flora at the Botanical Gardens
where you get magnificent panoramic views of the coastline that stretches from Calella to the cliffs of Cap Roig.
The golden sandy beach at Aigua Blava
is a very short drive away. Justifiably awarded a coveted Blue Flag, this beach boasts the finest and softest sand in the immediate area. Relax in one of the restaurants overlooking the bay and enjoy the freshest of grilled fish, accompanied by a glass of chilled white wine.
Learn to windsurf or rent a catamaran at Pals beach.
If you are up for a challenge, have a go at kitesurfing or ride on a banana boat.
Montrgi Castle is the symbol of Torroella de Montgri!
The panoramic views from the top of the towers take in almost the whole of the Empordà, from the Bay of Roses, Empúries, Canigó Massif, the Pyrenees, Montseny Massif, the Gavarres Mountaints, the Baix Ter and back to L’Estartit with the Medes Islands.
Visit the pottery town of La Bisbal
and purchase some handmade ceramics to take back home.
