What a wonderful location! Advantageously situated on the edge of the picturesque ‘pueblo blanco’ of El Gastor, with olive tree studded slopes rising beyond it to the rear and a panoramic vista spreading out ahead, this smart home encapsulates all of the appealing features we seek when searching for a holiday home.

On the south-eastern edge of the village, Casa la Bodega offers not only a contemporary interior of spacious proportions and light-filled rooms but also a picture-postcard view across the village’s terracotta rooftops to the interlocking slopes of the nearby National Park. Its poolside terraces, infinity pool and covered dining area extend beyond the living room like a balcony overlooking the captivating scenery, and just a short stroll down the lane are all the amenities of the village.

Within a charming labyrinth of narrow streets and whitewashed buildings, splashed with the bright colours of flower-filled balconies, the local shops of El Gastor are conveniently close to hand. The nearest restaurant is just 350m from the house, from where a scenic stroll of a further 200m will reveal the lively square, a focal point of the village and an ideal setting for mingling with the locals in one of its friendly cafes.

In what was originally the family’s local winery for production of white wine from the surrounding vineyards, the current generation of owners has imaginatively converted and re-modelled the property to create the stylish accommodation found here today. As the house is entered an immediate sense of style and elegance is apparent in the clean lines and muted tones of its contemporary décor whilst a thoughtful layout connecting indoor and outdoor areas via glass panelled French doors creates that all-important ease of access for al fresco holiday living.

Local Festivities

Corpus Christi is a very special traditional celebration in the village of El Gastor. It usually takes place in late May or June. The whole village prepares for the event with excitement and pride. People decorate the streets with flowers, colorful rugs, and green branches. The houses and balconies are also beautifully decorated. On the day of the celebration, there is a religious procession and then plenty of music and merry making into the early hours. Please confirm the celebration dates with our local team.

Join in the fun of Feria

Many local villages celebrate their annual Feria (Fair) during the summer months. Ronda Feria at the beginning of September is a grand affair or the Horse Feria in Jerez in May  is wonderful chance to see the Andalucían horses and typical flamenco dress.

Climb to the top of the castle!

A picturesque nearby village is Zahara de La Sierra. It's a steep walk up to the medieval castle perched high above the rooftops - but well worth the effort for the fabulous views over the lake, the terracota roof tiles below and the mountains far beyond. Zahara is a small, but lively mountain village with a welcoming square to sit and have a drink to cool off!
