Direct access from the garden onto the sandy beach of Chancelas, an impressive 16m swimming pool looking out across the sheltered waters of the Ría de Pontevedra, and picture-postcard maritime vistas from many of its rooms provide this unique beachfront home with one of the most sought-after settings we have had the privilege to offer.

With its spacious grounds of wide lawns, mature shrubs and shady trees literally touching the sand on their southern boundary, Veiga da Area perfectly fits the bill for guests looking for a holiday by the sea. Here, you can simply slip the catch of the garden gate and step onto the beach for a wander along the shoreline before stepping back into your own private grounds for a swim in the pool or a game of table tennis amidst these picturesque coastal surroundings.

Inside the house too, you will be accompanied by the colours and scenes of the ocean. A pleasing decor of soft pastel hues perfectly complements the sea views that stretch ahead invitingly through south-facing windows.  The reception rooms and all five bedrooms are to be found on the upper floor, whilst down below on the lower level a spacious games room sits alongside the pool terrace for fun days at home.

The string of sandy beaches that line these picturesque shores of Galicia’s southern coastline are all within easy reach. Their Caribbean-like sands look out across calm waters that produce some of the finest seafood to be found in Europe. Mussels, clams, oysters, shrimp, crab and lobster are just some of the many mouth-watering delicacies that feature on the menu boards of harbourfront restaurants, the nearest of these being just 1km away in the pretty fishing village of Combarro. Also close to hand is the historic town of Pontevedra, the atmospheric centre of which can be reached via a 30-minute drive along the scenic coast road, passing a host of equally enchanting seaside villages and harbours on the way.
