Amidst the pretty patchwork of woodland, vineyards and fruit trees that stretches between the River Miño and the southern Galician town of Goián, this substantial country home is an ideal retreat for large groups and sharing families. Overlooked by an elegant stone pillared veranda, its extensive grounds offer wide lawns, a basketball court, a barbecue house and a swimming pool for many hours of happy entertainment, whilst its proximity to the Portuguese border makes it an excellent base for exploring two countries in one holiday.

Just 1.5km from the house, via a series of pleasant country lanes, the waters of the River Miño meander idyllically through picturesque scenery and form Galicia’s border with its Portuguese neighbours. Here you can enjoy boating activities on the water, cross the nearby bridge to reach the waterfront towns of Portugal or stay in Galicia and sample the delicious Albariño wines produced in the vineyards that line the banks of the Spanish side. Alternatively, you can follow the river to where it meets the ocean to discover some stunning beaches of golden sand, just a 25 minute drive from the house.

Originally set up and furnished as the owner’s principal residence, Villa Enoterra exudes the welcoming ambience and beautifully coordinated décor of a much loved home, its classically styled rooms displaying smart floors of polished wood and tasteful soft furnishings to ensure comfort throughout.

All amenities and some good local restaurants are within easy reach, the town centre of Goián being about 2km from the house.

Great Things to Do Near Villa Enoterra

Head for the surf!

You can hire surfboards at the beach of Afife just to the south of Praia de Ancora, Portugal and spend a day in the water on this fantastic stretch of unspoilt coastline, a much sought after spot for keen surfers. Alternatively, head north to Playa de Patos, Nigrán where the soft sand and views to the Cies Islands are an added bonus.

Visit the charming fortress town of Valença...

Opposite Tui, on the Portuguese side of the border is Valença, a fascinating walled city full of interesting buildings and winding streets. It is just a 25 minute drive from the house.

Stroll the streets of A Guarda, the Lobster capital of southern Galicia!

This is a typical Galician fishing town with a rich history. Be sure to visit one of the many restaurants around the port and try the lobster for which the town is famous.

Drive up the coast to Baiona...

The coastal road between A Guarda and Baiona offers spectacular views of the Atlantic ocean. Once in Baiona, why not take a stroll along the seafront. You can contemplate the bay or watch the boats arriving in the Marina. The promenade is more than 5 kms long so you might feel the need to stop for a cool glass of local Albariño wine in one of the many bars which line the cobbled streets.

Set foot aboard the Pinta...

In 1493 a ship called the Pinta made its way into Baiona port to announce the 'discovery' of the New World. You can visit a replica of the vessel in Baiona Harbour decked out as it was in the days of Christopher Columbus, with models of the crew, native Americans and even the exotic animals brought from the newly 'discovered' land.

Kayak along the route of the fishermen...

A trip to Santiago is an absolute must! The jewel of Galicia where, for more than 1000 years, pilgrims have gathered from all over Europe.
