The Village
This small village sits approximately 20 minutes’ drive south from Pollenca and around 30 minutes’ drive north from Palma, and has a distinctly local atmosphere with some good bars serving typical local dishes, a popular bakery and a weekly Saturday morning street market.
Explore
Travelling the main road back towards Palma soon brings you to the busy town of Inca which is renowned for its manufacturing of leather goods where you will find several leather outlets. Inca also has a thriving market, held on Thursday mornings, one of the biggest on the island selling not just fresh food but clothes and antiques.
Just east of Buger is Sa Pobla which is another market town with a pleasant town square. It is a hub of activity on Saturday market days and there are some appealing restaurants, along with a Contemporary Arts Gallery and Toy Museum. Another hilltop village at Campanet to the north of Buger offers all amenities and a few restaurants.
Nearby
The Caves of Campanet are especially beautiful and interesting without being too commercialised, to walk around the caves only takes around 40 minutes so this is an easy trip for all the family. Just 15 minutes south of Inca you’ll find La Granja which is a large mansion house with lots to see and do, close to here is the famous Bodega Jose L Ferrer winery where you can sample the wines throughout most of the year.
Beaches
Easy to reach from Buger are the beaches of Port de Pollenca (25 mins drive), a long beach stretching all the way round the Bay of Pollenca to Alcúdia (20 mins drive). In Port de Pollenca the beach is white sand while around the bay there is more shingle and sand. Windsurfing and kite surfing are very popular in the bay near Alcúdia.
