The beach
Probably the most popular beach on the east coast, Barbati is also one of the most beautiful, with the green slopes of Mount Pantokrator looming high in the background. The beach is set a good 100 metres down from the hustle and bustle of the busy thoroughfare, with good parking facilities and an assortment of beach bars and tavernas. The long stretch of pebble beach shelves quite rapidly into fairly deep, stunningly clear, blue water. Sunbeds and umbrellas are available to hire, except at the very far ends of the beach, which are therefore much quieter. A number of enterprises along the beach offer a variety of water sports, and pedalos and dinghies can be hired.
Explore
Barbati is also an excellent base for exploring the surrounding area. This north-eastern corner of the island is scattered with charming villages such as Kassiopi, while vibrant Corfu Town with its many attractions is easily reached by heading south.
