The waterfront
The waterfront curves around the bay, lined with tavernas and cafes where fishing boats moor directly alongside. The village maintains its working harbour character, with local fishermen still bringing in their catch. You'll find fresh octopus drying in the sun outside tavernas during summer months.
The beach
The main beach in the village is a narrow strip of white pebbles with clear, calm waters. Several smaller coves and beaches are accessible within walking distance or a short drive along the coast. The sea here is particularly clear, making it popular for swimming and snorkelling.
Explore
Agia Efimia serves as a ferry port, with regular connections to Ithaka (around 45 minutes) and Lefkada during the summer season. This makes it a practical base for island-hopping in the Ionian.
The village is well-positioned for exploring the island's northern attractions. Melissani Cave, an underground lake with a collapsed roof that creates striking light effects, is about 3 kilometres away. Myrtos Beach lies roughly 10 kilometres to the northwest. The pretty fishing village of Fiskardo is around 20 kilometres north along the coastal road.
