Eating out in Gialova
Gialova is a great spot to go for dinner and is just over 1km from our villas. With beautiful views out to sea, it is a perfect location to watch the sunset, whilst enjoying a freshly cooked meal.
Pylos Castle
The well-preserved castle at Pylos is very much worth a visit. The site houses a church, an interesting museum with video presentations, an underwater archaeology exhibit, and there are great views across the bay. It is within easy walking distance of Pylos town centre.
Polylimnio Waterfalls
A short drive of around 25 minutes will bring you to the waterfalls of Polylimnio. Don your walking shoes for the short hike from the car park (a little challenging at times), culminating in the waterfalls and pools which you can swim in or climb to the top of the rocks. Lots of great photo opportunities in the area.
Voidokilia Beach
Just under 28 minutes from the Gialova villas is the U-shaped sandy bay of Voidokilia beach, behind which are protected wetlands for migrating birds. This is a protected site so no bars or facilities are allowed, ensuring the natural beauty of the bay remains unspoilt. From here you can hike up to the site of Nestor’s cave, where according to mythology Hermes hid 50 cattle stolen from his brother Apollo. Afterwards refresh yourselves in the beach’s calm sea.
The Golden Beach at Divari
Just under 10 minutes by car, Divari is a lovely sandy coastline with crystal clear calm waters and a café bar for all your refreshment needs. Whilst here, perhaps take time to visit Old Navarino Castle, which dates back to the 13th century.
