Beaches
Torre Vado has a bijou sandy beach, next to the harbour with a cluster of amenities on hand. Neighbouring Pescoluse and Posto Vecchio are wider beaches with beautiful sand and crystalline waters of a striking turquoise hue, earning this stretch of coastline the local moniker ‘the Maldives’. There are free sections at these beaches, or you could treat yourself by hiring a sunbed and parasol from a lido, with food and drinks available.
Santa Maria di Leuca
This town sits at the convergence of the Ionian and Adriatic seas on Puglia’s southern tip, and famously has both stunning sunrises and spectacular sunsets! The focus of the town is the bustling harbour, lined with Art Nouveau villas and overlooked by an iconic lighthouse. There is a winding boardwalk to wander along to admire the panorama, and plenty of restaurants and bars for a coffee, a leisurely fish lunch, or a cocktail.
All at sea!
A variety of water sports is available in this area, especially surf sports and sailing, also paddle boarding and kayaking. It is possible to hire a small motor boat without a licence, or you can join a boat tour in and around the cliffs and caves along the rugged coastline either side of Santa Maria di Leuca.
