About Olhos d'Agua

Natural Springs

The freshwater springs which appear at low tide give this small beach resort its name - ‘eyes of water’. Originating as a fishing village, Olhos d’Agua takes its name from the fresh water springs present along the beach. It is a lovely phenomenon and worth visiting, the natural water bursts from under the sand mixing quickly with the salt water. Children will love playing amongst the rocks and cool fresh water. A fairly small beach, it can get busy in peak season.

Albufeira

Nearby ever popular Albufeira may be too brash for some but boasts fabulous beaches and a tremendous array of eateries, bars and cafes, entertainment is always assured. Albufeira is the largest and liveliest town that lines the coast and features great beaches and buzzing nightlife.

The pretty old town is both charming and historic with over a hundred shops and cafes to explore. The architecture of the old town is an eclectic mix of typical Portuguese pale white and tiled homes, along narrow streets many with “Portuguese pavements" laid in pretty patterns. A meander through the historic centre is a lovely pastime.

For a more lively scene head to the New Town and the 'Strip' peppered with more modern tourist developments and neon lights. Popular with the young, this is the place for late night parties and discos.

Boat Trips

Head to Albufeira marina for boat and fishing trips along the coast. Enjoy days out, short journeys or exclusive use of yachts allowing you to enjoy this most fabulous coastline.

A two and a half hour cruise to watch dolphins is very popular or marvel at the rock formations of the Benagil Caves. For deep sea fishing trips, boats can be hired privately or as part of a group.

Local companies will rent you a kayak, canoe or stand-up paddle board to explore the nearby caves, many of which are only accessible by water.
