Festivals
Held at the end of May/beginning of June, the colourful kite festival is a vivid spectacle held on the beach at Moledo. It is known locally as the ‘Festa de Papagaios’. The first Sunday in August sees the religious ‘Festa da Senhora ao Pé da Cruz’ which involves a procession from the old village down to the beach. This tradition has been practiced since the year 1700.
Moledo Beach
Although the beach is great for families as well as surfers and kite surfers it is also a good place to watch the sun go down from one of the increasing number of cafés which line the beach front. Being west facing the evening sunsets are impressive.
Eating Out
Moledo, together with Caminha and nearby Praia de Ancora, offers a great choice of dining venues, from small, family run restaurants which are great value, to highly recommended, special occasion restaurants with locally sourced beef and freshly caught fish. Moledo’s pizzeria is very popular!
