In General
Baiona has a lot of charm, with a quaint fishing port, appealing beaches and an old town that sits just back from the seafront. There are a number of small beaches along the coastline within close proximity to Baiona and this is one of the reasons it is so popular with summer visitors.
Camino de Santiago
The pilgrim’s route, Camino de Santiago, passes through Baiona and you can enjoy endless views out to sea by walking part of this route along the coastal path in the direction of the village of Oia.
On the headland below the parador in Baiona, starting at Barbeira beach, you can also enjoy a stroll along the coastal path which overlooks the beaches and rocky outcrops that form the tip of Baiona. The parador is open to the public and is a very pleasant setting for a stop off for a coffee and a cake after your walk.
Eating Out
Within Baiona’s old district there are a number of narrow cobbled streets with typical Galician houses lining them, giving an almost corridor like feel. There are bars, cafes and restaurants hidden away in this area to be discovered as you explore.
As well as seafood restaurants, tapas bars are also very popular in Baiona and can have the best atmosphere as the locals frequent these places just as much as visitors to the area. There are some good bars for those who fancy a nice cocktail or glass of wine after dinner.
Shopping & Markets
There are numerous large supermarkets in and around Baiona and also local independent green grocers, fishmongers and butchers where you can buy local, fresh produce.
The weekly market is also great for buying local produce as well as clothing, handicrafts and souvenirs.
